Sector 9 Joel Tudor Model?
Hey everyone. I came here a while ago looking for a board (Originally asked about getting a Quadline board, LOL) and from all your advice decided on a Sector 9 (Specs of that board at the bottom) but was flipping through an issue of Transworld Surf and came across the Sector 9 Joel Tudor Model. The discription really interested me - A cruiser board that you can still do tricks on. Keep in mind, I don't skate, just sort of an interest of mine that I have wanted to pursue. So basically, how is this board? Can you still carve down hills and then ollie over a curb at the end of the ride (Example)? Just wanted some opinions on this, or if a different board would be better suited for me.
Specs for the Sector 9 you guys recommended after getting my preferences:
Sector 9 Goddess Concave Pin deck (red)
$59.95
Randal R-II 180mm trucks
$39.95
Sector 9 Top Shelf 72mm wheels (white)
$32.95
Mini-Logo bearings
$8.95
Tracker 5/16" risers (pair)
$2.50
Mounting hardware 1.50"
TOTAL: $146.80

Re: Sector 9 Joel Tudor Model?
My friend has this board and i have ridden it around a lot, good board, nice and wide and the nose and tail are both nice and big. It comes with good equipment too, indy 149s, and those top shelf wheels, makes for a super smooth ride. You can ollie this board and do tricks on it easily as well, it's the best "Do everything" board I've seen, we were bombing hillz and i was clocking them in the car, got my friend at around 30-35 mph. And on top of all that it has that little indentation on the graphics size where you can ROLL YOUR WEED, ###### sweet, it works perfectly.

Re: Sector 9 Joel Tudor Model?
Yeah, that S9 Goddess is a 46" pintail and in general that set up is gonna stay on the ground, carving, bombing, pumping. Ollies will be way way difficult not to mention anything else that has to do with being airborne. The Joel Tudor by sharp contrast is basically a 70s style 28" kicktail board (a mini) that, yeah, you could do lots of tricks on but not geared towards carving & downhill.
Maybe look at completes that are in the 36" or so range with kicktails (if you must have a kicktail on your longboard).
Rayne Agent
Gravity Logan Cruiser or Roger Mihalko model
LBL Ono
Comet Proflex
etc, good luck

Re: Sector 9 Joel Tudor Model?
Thanks. I ended up getting a normal skateboard and some Surf One wheels for cruising (70ish mm). It does everything I want it to. I might end up with a longboard later down the road. (Pun intended)
