griptape does dampen the flex to some extent (ever so marginally) but it is one of those necessary "evils".

thanks for the replies. im just gonna go ahead and slap it on there
cutting a design into the tape especially if the cuts go all the way accoss the width of the deck might make for even less of the damping effect.
i know that on loaded boards a big slab of tape will affect flex, so they reccomend small pieces
Here is what I did: The grip didn't mess with the flex for me at all.
