    Default Converting to a drop-through

i'm getting a 46.5 inch pintail and was hoping to make it a drop-through. My friend has some woodworking experience, but i was wondering if their was anything in perticular i should know about, i was also hoping to cut the sides of the nose off to run bigger wheels. so any help will be appreciated.

You only gave 1 statistic 46.5". How many plies and what type lay-up?

well, if you have to drop it. dont make it flushcut, you'll lose alotta strength where you need it the most. and chop off the tail too.. i've had a couple of dropthru boards that snapped in the middle of a kickturn..

If you are planning on using Randal trucks, Randal actually has PDF files of the templates to lay on the board so you can make the cut outs perfect.

use a router, find a drop-through, make a template on a blank piece iof plywood by using the exsisting cutouts as a guide for the router. Then bolt your blank onto the truck mounts and use it as a guide on your deck.

I also have an old flat (no concave, camber) deck that i want to convert into a Eel or Dervish shape with dropthough mounted Randall II's. The thing is, the deck is pretty thick (dont exactly know how thick, its not by my side now) But I was wondering if there is a maximum thinkness. Because it is think I was thinking of mounting it flush at the top.

Any tips or help is very welcome. I've done board reconstruction, construction before and really enjoy it. I hope to give that old deck a second chance to rip.
