Default Newbie needs Help With Bushings

Hey all, better introduce myself because I'm new here. Just bought my first board and Im pretty stoked. Its a Sector 9 Goddess of Speed, stock with the Gullwig trucks, and greaseball bearings and what not. I realize its not the cream of the crop but I'm stoked nonetheless I just started out and so far Im really enjoying just carving and bombing around, I would like to get into hills after I get comfortable with the board. Anyways on to my question:

What is the purpose of bushings? and do they have anything to do with the weight of the rider? I'm a bigger guy (6 foot 3, 205 lbs) and I was wondering if I should change anything on my board to better tune it to my build. I tried a search but couldnt find anything so please forgive me if this has been discussed before!

Sorry for the noob question but all answers much appreciated

well firstly TEX welcome to the fish.
And yes this question has been asked before many times, and most likely will continually be asked, and thats cool ,thats what the fish is for,

yes your bushing set up can make a big difference to how your board feels,
firstly how does the board feel to you now?
    what wheels have you got,
The goddess is a nice deck, it has good concave and is stiff enough to handle speed,
you may want to change your trucks later on down the line as you progress, but for now its just about getting out there and having fun,
The bushings are a very personal part of boarding, it depends on how you like to ride,The bushings are there so when you truck hanger leens to one side or the other ,it will rebound to the center position again,
If they feel to loose or soft, which is corsing the deck to tilt, get wheel bite or just turn to fast, under your weight, you may first want to try tightening the trucks a little , remember you still need to turn so dont tighten to hard,
Otherwise you may need harder duro bushings, as I dont know what you have on there right now , its hard to say what to try,
harder bushings will stiffen the ride some what ,
you might like to try harder in the back and softer in the front, but like I said before watch out for wheel bite,
this can be avoided be introducing raiser pads in between your truck and deck,

    I hope this helps some,

    ,

Bushings affect the turnability of your board. And, I suppose the smoothness of the turn? The softer ones usually make it easier to turn, while the harder ones are used for more stability. As far as tuning, it's really just up to how much turnability you want.

This is just from what I've read about the mechanics of bushings. And, in theory it makes sense to me, so I'm just regurgitating this information to you.
