What speedboard setup should I use
Right now I am thinking about getting a speedboard and here is the setup...
board: Landyachtz 42" DH Race Deck
bearings: Rockets Ceramic
wheels: already have 97mm flywheels
trucks: Paris 180mm Black
and I'm kind of experimenting because, I have only have riden a sector 9 and a loaded vanguard

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
If you want to do some speedboarding, Paris' are not the truck for you. You should look at 52 degree Grizzlies. I would have said get the 1052 grizzlies (10mm axel, 52 degree truck) but since you are using those bearings, then that won't be possible. So you probably want 852's for your deck. Just be careful about bending those axels.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
50 degree parises will do fine on a DH Race. The nose and tail are dewedged.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
Dh race not a good beginner dh board.
Ceramics are unnecessary and really expensive.
Wheels are probably to big for most boards.
Paris= Not great at speed, definitely not good for dh.
I would say something more like a kebbek or Rayne or Madrid drop through
Crails or Randals or frankenrandals.
76 or 83 mm flys or just go with bigzigs like everybody else.
And just get mini logos, or reds, or biltins.

NOOBZ^^^
The DH race will be a good beginner DH board. And with Paris trucks it will make it so the board can still turn. IMO its a really good 1st setup.
EXCEPT: isnt the DHrace old school while the paris trucks are new school?

pretty sure you got that right

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
this is probably incorrect, but i'm pretty sure just standing on that set-up wit those wheels would bend the paris trucks almost instantly. paris trucks look so thin and brittle, especially with 97mm wheels on em.
personally i wouldn't go for a DH race for a first deck. whilst its a good board, the evo is more suited as a first board if u wanna go with landyachtz. otherwise look at the kebbek's. with those wheels ur gonna wanna get thicker trucks (10mm).
and scrap the ceramics

whould randals bend at all?

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
to be honest, unless you are doing lots of sliding/drifting at fast speeds (wot u have to do in DH), it is pretty hard to bend them. i have randals on my evo and haven't had a problem, but i have 76mm flys. big size difference.
i figure that when i manage to bend them, i am ready for precision trucks. but until then i'll do with what iv'e got.
choose between randals and grizzlys.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
My paris' have held up longer than my randals did. Even thought these were the OG randals. I say get smaller wheels (83mm flys) and randals or keep the 97flys and get 10mm trucks and diffrent bearings. eaither way paris' are out of the question for that board w/out mods.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
I absolutely hate the DHR, way too thin and low for me (maybe not you). I would recommend either an Evo, Avenger/Revenger, or any of the Madrid boards, those are all much better than the DHR, in my opinion. As for truck, definitely go with either the 1052s or 1042s, and just get the Mach 10 bearings (AWESOME bearings, roll for an extremely long time and last very very long also).

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
Seriously people? Paris aren't good for DH but Randals are? Jeez, what a sad day.
Hop, your setup is fine. You don't need ceramics, but whatever you want.
EDIT: Unless the mounting truly is an issue.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
I have a DH Race, and it was my first board. It'll be a perfectly fine board for you. It's low, stable, and easy to push. It's turning really sucks on flatland, and that's why I'm currently trying to get rid of mine, but other than that, it's fairly stable. My setup is with 8mm Grizzlies. I don't know the radius or whatever. Mine is setup with Speed Vents and Reds Bearrings. Reds Bearrings have really good roll and roll long.
Man, right when I try to get rid of mine, everyone wants to buy it, but they're too far away. Sigh.

Paris' are as good for dh as R1 randals. but they are NEW SCHOOL and the DHR is OLD SCHOOL. so it wolnt fit.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
Dude, you could jump off your roof (joke, not recommendation) and not bend your axles. At 125lbs That'll be just fine to start DH. Once you start feeling what it's like, figure out what more you want out of the setup and ask about it. Chances are the first changes you will make will be riser/bushing combo changes which are much thriftier than anything else on a board.

Re: What speedboard setup should I use
Don't need to spend money on Ceramic bearings unless you are racing to win by tenths of a second.
97 Flys are huge and expensive, maybe Bigzigs, Earthwing Superballs, Seismic SpeedVents or Seismic Blastwaves or 83mm Flys would be a better way to spend less on wheels.
Randal has the most versatile selection of non precision trucks at this point and the new and improved Randals are made with good grade 8 axles and kingpins.
If you decide to make truck adjustments in the future you can change/buy one part at a time with Randals, really a great way to go now that Randal has cleaned up their stuff.
Buy a used deck from someone on the fish and save money.
There is a Landy Evo for sale right now.
Other good deck choices would be:
Kebbek Flushcut
Kebbek Smoothcut Bassi Haller
Fullbag Speedboard dropthrough
Kebbek Jon Caften (a better Evo)
Kebbek Ian Comishin
Madrid Dropthrough

Imo, they do ride quite differently, so yes. Not trying to be an ass, but from what i can tell by having them both mounted on the same top mount, randals felt more stable. They are similar but Randals have the edge for DH.

Yep, for sure.
You can flip Randal hangers for a bit more stability too.
If you put stims top and bottom on the Paris you can firm things up a bit but Randal just makes more sense.
They sell baseplates in 28,35,42,50 angles, nobody else can do that for you at this point.
