Superglider Setup ?
So I want to get a superglider but it seems no-one is making a 'complete' Black/white version anymore (MHS was but no longer has 1). So it seems I am going to have to buy it in pieces ... and this being my first board i need help.
In general, What do you guys feel is the best setup for a Superglider? I've done my homework and this is what I have come up with as a good setup. But again, I dont really know "Good" bearings/trucks/wheels. My budget is capped at about 170, Thanks.
Earthwing SuperGlider Deck
Trucks - Independent Indy 169mm Trucks Silver
Wheels - Retro ZigZags Lime Wheels 70mm 80a
Shortys Dooks Hard Risers 1/4
Independent Abec-7 Bearings
Total - $171
Any suggestions?

Re: Superglider Setup ?
stick with the indys in my opinion. Sounds like an awesome first board.

Re: Superglider Setup ?
might wanna get 215mm indys (183mm hanger) instead for a little extra wheel clearance. i'm thinking about getting this board and those are what i'm going to put on there

If anything, I'd go down a size from the 169s. The superglider is 8.5" wide. Indy 169s are 8.9" wide, and the zig zags make track width even wider. Sizing down to Indy 149s or Paris/Randal 150s (at about 8.5") will reduce wheelbite, make turning easier, and make it less likely that your foot will hit the back wheel. Going up to 215s/180s will have the opposite effect.
Edit: Great setup. I've got mine set up that way and it rules.

Re: Superglider Setup ?
Good setup. I run the 66mm Zigs and a little less riser, but it's no big difference.
Edit: Wells is right on the trucks -- I wouldn't go bigger than 169's on the Superglider, and I'll try out 149's someday.

Re: Superglider Setup ?
169s and 70mm superballs are a great match for the superglider. If you really want zigzags, I'd go with 149s.

just out of curiosity, how does reducing hanger width reduce wheelbite?
IMO, i would rather risk kicking my back wheel in exchange for no (or very little) riser. now your board is lower to the ground and can run bigger wheels. 2 birds w/ one stone
then again, i might be bias b/c i already have the set of 215's that i would use for the superglider. right now they're on my slider, and i want to swap them out for some 169s. but anyway, my 215s are still unbelievably carvy w/ bones blacks

I hear you about the riser and wheels, but wider trucks feel different when you're turning. That's the biggest difference, IMO.
If you've got the 215's around, there's no harm in mounting them up, for sure. Try it out and let us know how it works.

Re: Superglider Setup ?
great setup. i think you should do less risers tho and try the new 66mm superballs from earthwing

Re: Superglider Setup ?
215 feels more stable..
currently using 169 on my setup, and it has better maneuverability, as it supposed to be.
if both set up the same way, it wont feel too different.

with the 215s did you think there was enough foot room w/o stepping on the wheels?

I did that for a week or so. Bennet/RTS combo off another board just for fun. It made for a wobblier ride than I was used to, and it felt kinda sketch when I ended up going a bit fast. Loose Indys are plenty turny for me on a shortish board. I should probably try it again sometime.

If you're used to wide trucks it's no big deal. Through attrition, I am runnning a 215 up front and Tracker 184 in back on my SG. Not the ideal setup, but it works pretty good for me with 71mm alligators and around 3/8" flat riser (probably no riser necessary with that wide track). That said, the 169s were better, IMO. I ordered some Ace 66s (boo! China!) and 66mm Superballs for it and I'll have to see how those work.
