    Default truck positioning

i was wondering if the way you mount your trucks matter. should the kingpin be pointing out, away from the middle of the board, or in? does it matter?

if the king pin is pointing in, youll try to turn right and the board will go left, and vice versa so the anwser is yes truck direction does matter,.
Blue stickers are only given to the select few people to suck adam coltons balls, and do it skillfully enough to give him blue balls. Thus resulting in the giving of the rare Blue Loaded Sticker.

Try it and you will find out. Also, certain trucks are different. For standard longboard trucks the bushings are on the outside, and for most smaller trucks are crappy krown trucks, the bushings are on the inside.

It's worth noting that the way you "point" conventional geometry trucks versus reverse kingpin style trucks is different. Basically, the thing to focus on is where the pivot cup is sitting. You want the pivot cups to be facing outwards on both ends...

Edit: The previous guy got it while I replied, but I think mine is a bit more useful...

The pivot cups always go on the outside.

so would there be any benefit to reversing the way the trucks are mounting? i'm working with gullwings, which i've heard are like randals, so what would happen if the kingpin was on the inside?

yes. if you reverse them they are stable at high speeds. but you wont notice a difference when going slow, so you should just take them down a big hill at first. hahaha

...... wake he isnt talking about flipping the hanger.

taking trucks down a hill when the are flipped (pivot cups IN) = pain and or death

i know!! thats why i put the "hahaha" in white text. shhhh... lol streetheap got it so he gave me positive rep.... thanks streetheap...

oh btw flipping the hangar doesnt actually make the trucks more stable. The only reason you would be more stable is because you think it makes a difference. its kinda like a placebo effect. all flipping the hangar does is make the ride lower.

not true, when you flip the hangars, say on randals, it makes the truck turn just a tad less

The changes caused by flipping randals are actually quite complicated.
the most significant is, as mentioned the ride height.
the FAQ dives in deeper than I'm going to here

The best thing to do is ride your board both ways and decide which you prefer.
there are advantages to both ways, and different riders swear by both settings.

The overwhelming factor of stability is being comfortable with your ride.

ive noticed that on my avenger with flipped hangars, they turn just a little bit less than they do unflipped, so i flipped only the back hangar and kept the front unflipped and its a great all-around set up, i just tighten my trucks a bit for bombing

it's to do with the bushing's leverage over the hanger,(among other things)
I'm pretty sure I laid it all out in the FAQ, read it.
