Exclamation Random questions: Bones Cleaning Kit & King Rims

    Hey everyone,
I haven't cleaned my board since I got it (over a month ago), so I've been looking into some accessories:

Bones Bearing Cleaning Unit / Speed Cream bundle
    http://www.milehighskates.com/catalo...6d43236c0455ad
Will this cleaning kit take care of all my bearing cleaning and lubing needs? The bones cleaning unit serves the same function as kerosene, mineral spirit, rubbing alcohol, etc., right?

    Grind King Rims (blue)

I think a couple of my friends have these bearing protectors... Are these generally recommended? Are there any cons to getting these? And if I get them, I won't have to clean my board as often, correct?

Sorry, I know that these are really dumb questions. I just needed to clarify some things.

I have the cleaning unit--too lazy to make my own--and really like it. You'll still need to use mineral spirit or acetone, plus alcohol rinse.

The rims protect the bearings, but still get dirty. Silver lasts longest in my experience--the painted ones chip if you remove or tighten regularly.

Thanks for the response! What's the point of using the cleaning unit if I still need mineral spirit or acetone, plus the alcohol rinse, though?

The cleaning unit is just a container that makes it easier to clean your bearings. You can make your own by using a water bottle.

I see. I think I'll just stick to the speed cream then.

I have another question about buying new bearings, though:
DBS ABEC7 < Powell Bones Reds?

No name abec7 is what that probably means. Bones are definitely worth the extra few dollars if that's what the issue is...

You can also get some Acetone and soak your bearings in a glass.
