i took a beach towel laid it over the top and rubbed my knuckles on it and it lifted the dirt away with no effort.

Time you take to clean the deck, is time you could be skating!!
Maybe a wet tooshbrush, or a lightly damp cloth.
I need a new idea for a sig.

    Dry cloth

    Dry scrub brush

    Damp cloth

    Wet brush

in increasing order of necessity. If you have to get it a bit wet in order to get off crusted-on mud etc. just be sure to immediately dry it off with a dry towel and you should be OK.

Toss it in the Dish Washer....

On a more serious note Damp cloth wringed out well and just kinda press it against the board. Wash it out then wring it out and repeat
