pool/park/slide setup...??
suggestions on a good, well priced setup that I can can ride bowls/pools and parks, and also learn some sliding?? I'm not too keen on the regular street deck double kick shape, which I've heard are the ideal sliding board (earthwing etc.). I'd prefer a pool deck that can double as a slide deck. I've been looking at some gravity boards and some powell boards... right direction? i guess what it comes down too is... what board will give me the best of both worlds??
cheers

earthwing executioner or 35 drifter anything from emergency skates that is a double kick gravity is ok but they are heavy

I'm not a big fan of the double kick boards including the earthwing boards. i dont doubt that they are the bees knees when it comes to sliding, but I want more of a single kick pool board that can double as a slide board.
And does anyone know how slide wheels(EW slide A's) hold up in a pool/bowl?

Re: pool/park/slide setup...??
slide a's are great slide wheels and make pretty good park wheels too
if you don't want a double kick i'd get a powell reissue deck because its nice and wide and some indy 169s and slide a's (remember to space ur bearings)

Re: pool/park/slide setup...??
why are you so against a nose kick? if nothing else, it lets you position your front foot without having to look down nearly as much.
that said, i have a gravity SY33, yuppie wheels and orions, and use it for sliding and bowls. i also caved and picked up some powell bowl bombers, but i've been lazy and just using my yuppie wheels for both. they slide like ice, albeit a little loud and really small hookup, and their fast and predictable on concrete.

cheers man. i've been looking at the powell decks and I really like them, but are they going to be alright to slide or should I look for something a bit longer? they all seem to be around 30 inchs. the other board I've been looking at is the gravity roger mihalko 33.
And I just don't like the look of a double kick, too much like a normal street deck. I'm pretty set on a nice wide 80s single kick shape deck, something like a powell re-issue. I'm a bit worried that it might be hard to slide on a deck that short... haha sorry if i seem to be repeating myself.

It's not that hard to slide on a single kick deck. I learned to coleman on a 30" powell reissue. It works OK. I like having the front kick (and my current board has one), but it isn't necessary. For some tech slides double kicks may be a bigger deal (I wouldn't know about that... yet).
FYI, The Mihalko has a little kick to the nose.

lol its just the Popsicle shape I'm not keen on. I love the 80's shape with the square tail and spoon nose haha. don't know why but thats just what I like. atm I'm thinking the powell vallely elephant.

Re: pool/park/slide setup...??
I would recommend getting something with nose kick for two reasons
-Lock you foot in place without looking down
-Save you a broken ankle if your foot slips off.
That being said I'd recommend the Pool ripper or the Big Ripper
