Cool Im new, Please Help w Board Choice

    Hi...

I have about 1 year long boarding experience mainly cruising down the hills and through the city streets..

Now I am looking to buy a new long board but have no idea which are good and so I am looking for some guidance.

I am 6"3' 195lb and am looking to spend around $200-$250 on my new board.

I want a board that is good for cruising and going downhill. Carving would be nice too since
I dont like to brake when Im going downhill but just do zig zags to keep it from going too fast down the hills.

If there are some good websites that sell boards please let me know.

    Thanks a lot

Where are you located? You might be able to hook up with some other riders and try some different boards to find what you like.

    Some general guidelines:
Pick a board shape you like between 35"-44" (pintails may be longer) Go with the shorter end of the range if you will need to carry on public transportation etc.

Trucks in the 150mm-180mm range to match width of the board. Some good choices are Randal,Paris, Tracker Fastrack, Gullwing Chargers and Crails (more DH orientated)

Wheels in the 66mm-72mm range is a good all around size in a duro of 78a-84a

Flex in a board is nice for cruising and carving and stiffer boards tend to be more stable as speed increases.

    Mile High Skates

Flex 1 Dervish (The paris trucks with carve a little harder but the chargers will be more stable, you'll also want replacement bushings for the paris trucks, yellow randals are a good replacement), Earthingwing Supercharger/Superglider. Not to mention Mark rules.

Kracked Skulls Scimitar, you can pick your length, its made by a cool guy, and is a killer deal. I can't think of a better starter/intermediate board. 175 gets you a great board with Big Zigs wheels and randal 180 trucks...
