You could always use the search function..... these millions of threads on here about it man.
but being that your new i wont flame ya
i have a dervish and its great ae, love it. what your saying about he vanguard is a bit off. the dervish it the one with the nose for manuals and such. just have a look at a pic of it closely.
Depending on what you plan to use the board for. The Vanguard is a more soulful feel, better for cruising, dancing, and carving due to its torsional flex and bigger platform/ wheelbase. The Dervish is more performace oriented, stiffer flex and more nose for manuals and shuvits, with drop-throughs for speed and easier pushing.

A point that is always coming up on here, its that the dervish is a bit more of an all round board. it still makes a great carver and is full of liveliness, but you can take it much faster then you can the vanguard, due to the drop through.
wheelbase wise. the 38" vanguard is pretty much the same as the dervish
Go with the flex 1 dervish. Stiffest is best. Vanguard flex one is nothing compared to the flex 1 dervish. I weigh 150 and its a beast even though it says im underweight.
I think I'm going into the shop today to order a new dervish to add to my collection, what in your opinions would be the best trucks and wheels to get on this board. I ride all styles, cruising, carving, DH.
