Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
Archy, that picture is eerie...
You'll see when I eventually post pics of my boards. A bit lazy right about now.
Also, just want to say that bustin boca's are piss-me-off sluggish.

169s on 1/4" soft risers on the left. 149s on soft khiro wedges, right. You clever people can figure out the rest. Wider is gonna be more of the slide/fun/hills board, narrower for everyday pushing/travel and rain. Give me a few days if you want comparisons--just finished shuffling parts between four boards and the flight testing begins now.
Also: The guy at the local shop where I bought the new glider (Homage) gave me some incredibly rough grip that he said Brian dropped off there. It's got a black grid on the back, no other marks, and it's sort of more rubbery and even grittier than edger. Paper was a bitch to peel off. Anyone (Animal?) have any idea what it is?

That is called "Earthwing Supergrit" griptape It's so sticky, and coarse...I was going to try to put it in a pretty package, and sell it, but I will leave that up to the experts of coarse grip marketing. It's all the same sort of crap, but I believe that this is the roughest grip out of everything I have seen. I have stocked it for years. If anyone wants any hit me up. Personally I hate it, but I am more of a street style guy, and don't generally hit the kinds of speeds that many of you do.

What Brian meant to say was that you should call today to order your Earthwing Shoe-Slaughterin' Grip Strips. Designed for radical freeride moves, it's 65% coarser and way more core than the leading brand.

Yeah, that's what I meant. This is freeriding grip. Stick a fork in me, I am done....where are my deposit slips. One of you has to start a bogus thread on the amazing new freeriding griptape from Earthwing all press release style...priceless..

I really hate to post this a third time...
I know it's my decision as to whether I should do it or not and it is all about preference, but I'm just not sure if I should go for it.
I love the Road Rages. The urethane is noticeably better than similar wheels I have ridden. But I have also heard you guys raving about lipless wheels and I would love to pull some smooth standies with these. I just don't want to ruin them.
Should I enjoy them how they are and break them in a little more first, or should I go for the sit-and-sand method and wear them in from there?
edit:
I'd also like to thank everyone who has helped me out and given me input.
Thanks!

Man you are right.
I'm going to stop obsessing about mundane details and go ####### skate.
Thanks

/questions in this thread.
let's keep this devoted to the setup descriptions that are so helpful to others, and not clutter up the thread with other things, ya?

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I agree with you in that the subject should stay on Superglider setups, but I think that questions that have to do with Superglider setups are acceptable. I find it a pain when people start new threads asking very specific setup questions when they could be easily answered in an existing thread.
I am still kind of a noob, so correct me if you guys disagree because this is just my opinion.
Just keep spreadin' some stoke.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
i think the "earthwing army" thread would be more appropriate for those types of questions, but whatever. do what you'd like, it's the internet and i can't stop you

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
So what is the consensus now on the new WG- are 169s big enough? Of do guys that own the new board think ACE 66 or even 219s are the answer?
-
Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
169's feel really good.
i had randalls 180's and even with a center set grippin it didn't turn very well. go with 169's with bones hardcores.

Indy 149's would work as well with offset/sideset wheels. More responsive. But hell, if you feel like it, go for the 219's if that's your style. It'd be like a lawnmower.. random thought..

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I guess why I am having a hard time visualizing 149s is that back in the day before the Widerglider most people felt 149 or 169 were best, and towards the end most people (myself included) were leaning towards the 169 (mostly for stability). I tried both on my old Glider with Zigs and def liked the 169s the best. So now we got a deck that is a full inch wider and yet people are still recommending the same trucks. Personally I know from exp. with the Thinnerglider the 149s are gonna be too small for me. Def. do not want Randals on anything made by EW (but thats just me). I guess I am just surprised more people aren't going with wider (traditional) trucks, as it is a wider deck. Personally I just ordered a WG, and I think Ace 66s will be the best bet, but I do not have any experience with this setup (yet).
I can see the 169s still being a viable option, and yes the 219s are probably pushing it, but 149s on a 9 1/2 inch wide deck- really??? So anyone using Ace 66s with the new glider?

Yep. Will be....
..with EW freeriders.
Of course I had 55s/66s/zigs or 169s/215s/zigs on my old glider, so go figure. I'm thinking centerset and the 66s should be pretty close to barely controlled chaotic zen.

Sounds like it's all preference =]. If you go back on this thread (I think), Wells has his set-up with 149's. But I think the standard truck recommendation for the widerglider is indeed 169's
i'm experimenting with the 149's wedged. I'm enjoy how nimble it is.
Also, I've heard good things about ace's.
