Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
Board Shape (Widerglider, OG): Widerglider Green
Trucks: Gullwing Mission 1's for now, soon either Randal 150's or Indy's
Bushings (make, model, color/duro): Venoms - Red Khiros
Risers (lowerers'): 1/4- 1/2 Wedged
Wheels (make, model, size, duro): 70mm S9, soon to be either zigszags or Road Rages
Bearings: Abec 7's
Riding Style (cruising, carving, downhill eek!): Cruising, carving
Riding Terrain (park, street, garage): Street, and maybe garage
Other wheels used: I'm thinking about throwing on my Rainskates Stingers for kicks
Miscellaneous:
I'm using some stuff I have laying around until I have cash for trucks and wheels, which probably won't be until my birthday. I'm leaning towards RII 150s, and some EW Road Rages, or Zigs though.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
Board Shape (Widerglider, OG): Wider Teal
Trucks: Indy 169s
Bushings (make, model, color/duro): Bones Hardcore mediums & Red Khiros
Risers (lowerers'): 1/2 inch Khiro risers(yet to put on)
Wheels (make, model, size, duro): Lemon Retro Freerides
Bearings: Bones Swiss
Riding Style (cruising, carving, downhill eek!): Carvin, commutin, pumpin, slidin, & DH
Riding Terrain (park, street, garage): street + rough roads
Other wheels used: none
Miscellaneous: owned for about 15 days and is already one of my favorite boards ever ridden. It can do anything, from pumping flatland to 35+ dh. I love how stable it is, it feels as comfortable as an evo with half the weight!
im going to start playing around with the risers once this rain lets up, any suggestions on wedging?

Indy or Aces!! They're a lot more responsive, low, and fun on the 'glider.

Okay Archy, you've had time. It's time for a comparison of the the two Gliders and your favorite setups on each.

Ha. I have not yet begun to tweak.
Impressions so far: these are totally different decks. My narrowglider love is well documented, here and elsewhere. Haven't had the time to fall so hard with the widerglider yet, but it wasn't the love at first step that I remember from my first glider ride. Then again, that was also my first high-quality deck and I had been riding logs before, so who knows. This much is clear: Unless the widerglider breaks in significantly (I've only ridden it like 75 miles so far) it is one stiff mutha. Not in a bad way--it's damp enough to subdue bad surfaces; it flexes deliberately in a carve--but it's much stiffer than the old glider: it doesn't have that same throw-you-into-the-next-turn kind of fiberglass-flexy pop (not trampoline bounce!), at least at the speeds I've been riding it (max 30). Which is fine, since I'm using it primarily as an everyday go-to board in some very mountainous terrain, so I want it to be less lively in a bomb. That said, like the Thruster, it seems to give more the more you put into it, so I may not have thrashed it hard enough yet. (Because I wanted to learn stand-ups on it, and because that's all I had on hand, I'm also using that absurdly thick and toothy Earthride Freegnash grip, which I think is killing the board feel.)
Set-up wise, wider is still exactly as I posted upthread: hybrid 169s, red elim bottoms, yellow elim top back, yellow cone front. Went cone/cone for a day and it felt sort of underpowered, if that makes any sense. It's bugging me that with my fishballs the wheels are slightly inboard of the rails, so something's gonna change when I have the money. It's a beefy deck, and I've got the other glider set up for narrow, agile, footbite-proof city pushing (road rages, 149s, hard hardcores, wedged) so I don't think 215s or ace 66s would be insane on this mostly carry-up/ride-down setup (not that it hasn't performed very well in midtown traffic!). I have some ace 55s I may put on, which I think are a tiny bit wider than 169s (I think). And, just for kicks and because I need to break them in on a board I actually ride, I'm going to try the widerglider this weekend riser-less with my new Tsunamis. I'm expecting to love that on the hills and to curse it in between.
Blah blah blah. For the record, I did skate today between work and the rain, and I had heelside speedchecks dialed more reliably on the widerglider than I ever did on the narrowglider. So props to the new wood there.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
so far from what ive found out.
i have 169s on my widerglider by the way.
with soft blue khiros.
front truck:
66mm wheels: on the widest wheelbase just needed a 1/4 riser, back needed a khiro soft wedge.
70mm: khiro wedge front, either wheelbase, khiro wedge back.
75mm: khiro wedge and 1/4 riser farthest wheelbase, khiro wedge and 1/4 riser and slightly harder bushings ( had to switch to red khiros to keep from bite).
76mm+: are you kidding.... it would be high as a motha fooker.
i run my trucks floppy loose.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I got my glider today and took it out for a little bit before the rain came in (isn't that always the case?). I felt it has the same amount of flex as my old OG Glider. Its a nice board, very agile but solid. I set it up with Ace 66s (green super carve venoms on the bottom and black bone hard cores on top) and road rages. Thats about all I can say about it at this point as I only rode it for an hour. But under my 200lb frame this board def. has flex, but it is not sloppy.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
what is the difference between the Superglider and the Supercharger? i am 200 lbs, and this deck was suggested by a friend.
also, why are Indy trucks the most preferred truck for such a deck? is it the same with the Supercharger? what kinds of skating disciplines are these decks good at? i'm looking for a deck that doesn't flex too much for my weight, and is good for big carves and slides. which deck would be good for me?
I like spaghetti.

Superglider, 38" long sub 28" wb good for people slalom, cruising, tight carves, garages, Sliding etc
Supercharger 44" long, 31" WB, Good for high speed carving, dancing, garages, commuting, long distance pushing, mild DH, sliding etc
on either board, Indys keep the ride height low and the board responsive, unless you want to run wheels bigger than 76mm there is no need for reverse kingpin trucks. I prefer the Charger but I live in an area with big spaces, if I lived in the City I'd might prefer a Glider....then again maybe not.
6'1" 215lbs I ride a Supercharger

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
ive had this deck for a while, but didnt have money to get components to set it up until now. thank you Wells for a deal on the trucks and wheels.
widerglider
trucks: indy 169 run just tight enough to where the washers dont rattle
bushings: front is bluebones/upside down randal cone back is superball cone/upsidedown indy cone
wheels : radiused lemon zigs using remnant grip tape on a glass bottle and a slight hill
1/4 inch riser: no bite
im an idiot that thought he would ollie down a three stair with his brand new superglider and didnt pop high enough and scraped the bottom of it pretty deep on the first stair... o well now that its scratched im gonna shred this deck to pieces
initial impressions: the kick could be at a lower angle and round. but other than that the board is awesome. definitely a keeper.

EDIT: papa, how tall are you? I think stance width is an issue in choosing glider v. charger. Charger I think has a little more flex, but I've never stood on one, so don't listen to me. I'm your weight most days, and like I said upthread: new glider flex is light and deliberate, never bouncy.
Pretty much what you said you're looking for. Plus a little bit of everything else. I pushed my Widerglider 15 happy miles through Manhattan today.
Archy, I get where you are coming from. The new superglider is more rigid than your typical flexy board. I just read your post the day before my board arrived and got nervous as I loved the flex of my old glider. I was just glad it still had it. EW in my opinion has the best flex, you work for it but it pays back in dividends.
The other thing I will add is the board really looks much nicer in person. I always liked the graphic but wasn't sure about the new colors. I have the green one and it looks very cool.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I only read through the first couple pages, but I have a couple questions.
If I set up a glider with indy 169's and the Retro FreeRide's, about how much riser will I need? Also, are the indys with the core baseplates any higher, or are they pretty much the same?

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
i'm gonna wait for a set of softer o tang 65mm free rides to come out and they will replace my zigs. i've been waiting for a quality wheel in this size.
but my gravity drifters should be here in a few days and i'm looking forward to those, i'm expecting to like them a lot.

Will it still feel low to the ground? I mainly just want to try the FreeRides, but if they wouldn't be best, I'm fine with getting a smaller wheel.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I have fishballs (freeride protos), 1/4" shock risers with Indy 215's on my supercharger....it's the same height as my Dropthough on RII42º and Avila's
