Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
What's so great about lipless wheels on the SG? Slidability?
And which ones were you using, Shimo?
I'm don't think I'll be harming the lips of my Road Rages anytime soon.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I like the narrow patch for both slide capability and roll speed. 70mm wheels are my ideal sprinting diameter, and on this deck they work beautifully. But lipless, narrow wheels are even better. This thing is seriously fun to speed check and Coleman on.
I found a new bushing combo too, JimZ white barrel bottoms, bones soft (blue) tops. In indy 169's.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
hellooooo, i just got a superglider over the weekend with 169mm indy trucks. i've been doing research on what bushings to get for my setup and still have some questions. so far, i've read that venom barrels with bones hardcores are great on indy's. i got that much, but i was confused as to which venom barrel to get. i'm 150lbs and i'm trying to get a loose carvy feel to my set, so i was thinking the 85a super-carves would be good paired with bones hardcore soft/blue bushings. would this work? or would there be a better setup/combo of the bushing densities for carving? also, should i make the back truck's bushings harder? or would having the same bushing stiffness be okay too?

The bushing combo you stated should be good. Whether the back is harder than the front is preference, but since you're thinking about carving uniform bushing duros sounds solid.
But before you have fun tweaking your set-up, you should look into switching your kingpin so that you can fit venoms. If you stick with the bones, you don't have to. Check the link:

I use a 2.25" kp and it seems to be working well. I also didn't use the can of 'penetrating catalyst' and used jb weld instead of the putty.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
Board Shape (Widerglider, OG): Widerglider Green
Trucks: MHS Hybrid 169s
Bushings (make, model, color/duro): Venoms - Green Eliminator Bottoms/ Red Supercarve Top (Flat washers all around)
Risers (lowerers'): 1/8 Soft
Wheels (make, model, size, duro): 66mm Road Rage
Bearings: MHS
Riding Style (cruising, carving, downhill eek!): Yes
Riding Terrain (park, street, garage): Street, but in the future Lansdowne and maybe garage
Other wheels used: I'm thinking about throwing on my Rainskates Stingers for kicks
Miscellaneous:
I went through a few bushing setups to find one that I didn't get bite with.
I have questions!
I like the bushing setup I have now, it's carvy and very stable (I weigh 120). I'm not getting any bite, but I come pretty close. I want to try some wedged risers because I've heard good things. Should I do the Khiro softs ( Mile High Skates )? Also, would I want to put them on top of the soft 1/8s I already have to make sure I don't get bite? And would I need bigger hardware than I have now?
Secondly, I've been thinking about radiusing my Road Rages for better slide-ability using this method.
Thanks for your feedback,
Ryan

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
I would just recomend throwing on another 1/8" riser. I use a soft khiro 1/8" and a 1/8" Lucky riser that is semi hard and I am bite free with my Abec11 freeriders.
With that said if you get the soft wedge riser it looks like you could use that riser itself with out the 1/8" riser you already have

The khiro wedged risers I think would eliminate your wheelbite issues as it is a lot of riser compared to a 1/8". You may need bigger hardware for the wedged side of each truck.

I use khiro soft wedges (80a) they work great. as my handle implies, I run freerides (72mm) with absolutely no bite (currently running venom 85a eliminator bottom front, 85a cone top, 90a elim bottom back, 90a barrel top). also, the wedging makes the ride so so much more fun/pumpable.

good question - I think I'm running 1.25" on the small ends of the wedges, and the taller sides are 1.75", but I'm totally guessing. 6/8 are truss head, and 2 are regular (panhead?) lucky brand hardware, lol. if you don't have a big 'ol box of random hardware, you might as well pick up an assortment and try out different lengths, you'll want them in the long run anyway.

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
That grip was probably Vicious. It's brand new and apparently much grittier than Edger.
Mile High Skates
Vicious Griptape | Gnarly Grip Tape for longboarding, speedboarding and sliding
Which riser setup do you like better? I still can't decide whether to go with an additional 1/8 riser or soft khiro wedges. And have you tried both of the front truck positions on the Wider? I currently am running the one that provides more nose and was wondering if it would make a big difference if I switched it.

I'm still thinking about it...anyone got suggestions?

go with the wedges. i've got them, and the difference in the board's responsiveness was night and day when i put 'em on!

Re: Official Superglider Army Setup Thread
Archy,
That stuff sounds like Gator grip, I have gripped a couple boards with it that I got from a local shop, and it is also know as Landys grippy grip tape. It is a pain to work with and it does not nearly as easy to work with as Vicious grip.
