My dad told me that I should put reflective tape on the front/back of my board.. So cars can see me at night when I skate.
And I though to myself.
Is there any reflective griptape out there?
It wold be really cool if there was. Haha.
Really cool PLUS the added safety..
Is there any reflective griptape?
If not, I'll just use ordinary reflective tape and do what my dad said. Hehe.
on the grip is a pretty bad place to have it really, it's pointing up...
on the trucks, side of the board (if it's thick) are better.
id also look at ways to run led's if you skate a lot at night.
Yeah. I'll probably be putting tape on my trucks, sides of the board, and helmet..
If I do find reflective griptape, I'll still use it because it'll look really cool. Haha.
Thanks for your input!
i doubt there'd be any reflective griptape, because to reflect light back at something it would need to be flat (i.e. reflective tape) and to be grippy it has to be studded and rough (griptape). Another problem i could see with reflective griptape as that since it is on your board, it is pointing straight up into the air, and wouldn't really be good for reflecting light front and back. That's just a guess based on angles, etc. But maybe it would work becuase of all the bumps, i guess no one would know until it happens. I would say just put reflective tape on the front and back, or you could always go with lighted risers
I have one of those blinking red lights that bikers use. I attached some velcro to my glove and some velcro to the light, to use at night. This works well but just try and find the smallest light you can, mine is kind of heavy. Having reflective tape on your board is good, but i think wearing a sash that is reflective even better, that way the reflection is not so close to the ground.
how about a safety vest....or armband, belt etc. Drivers are not looking at the ground somuch as at the level of your torso. I freeking hate safety gear, but I wear it, and even after all the stupid things I've done over the years I'm alive and well.

No matter where you go, there you are....
Hope the grip doesnt hold the reflectiveness back or something..
I think you'll find as mentioned above that the bumpiness of the griptape will diffuse the light and interfere with it's reflective abilities... then again I could be wrong... post pics when you're done!
A safety vest would be the best bet, you can get them from workwear stores or maybe at BigW or something. You'll look like a knob but I think I'd rather that than being hit by a car
