Homemade tail/nose protectors

I recently got a madrid mad dog - wicked little mini setup.

The kick nose & tail are the biggest reasons i got it, using it to learn manuals and stuff easier. i'm scraping the bottom of the deck up some learning manuals... i'd really like to fashion something on to extend the life of the deck, cause the tail is really eating poop when i drag it...

I've found some powell tail bones in a 5" variety, but the store is sold out. I may fit an oldschool skid plate on, but i'd really like to go with something that isn't a bolt on job.

Anybody got ideas or experience on adding something on under the tail/nose like that?

I'm considering using some of a leftover cutting board i used for slide gloves and making a little under lip thing... in that case, could anyone recommend a good adherent that won't rip a ply off with it if it comes off?

i think industrial velcro will work better because you can replace it the cutting board. with epoxy it'll be stuck on there forever. or maybe with screws?
