Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
Steve: I have used a ton of this stuff and never had an issue, but if you are using something like 3-1 oil, that might make it more slippry.. i load up my slide wheel with this just for the purpose of making it more slippery.. but i have never had that happen with a soft wheel. Did your board slip out on you unexpectedly?

braden: yes.. but why??? if there is already grease in there, then it doesnt hurt to throw some oil on top of that. I use 3-1 oil for bearings for sliding, or rain wheels, and speed cream for my fast bearings

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
seems like i would think it might be more like a paint strip, or a tar strip where they sealed a crack, i've had more trouble slipping on things like that, but again, with soft wheels, i've never slipped from lube coming out of the bearings, and i lube mine a ton, all the time

TRICK ANSWER!
longboards sometimes require "grippier" tape...a'la sk8kings hardcore, edger, madrid flypaper. skateboards, on the other hand, need finer-grit grip, so they don't kill their shoes with flippity tricks and the like. jessup and other "shortboard" brands would not stand up to the grip needed by longboarders, and the grippy griptape that longboarders use would mess up flippity-tricks, and wear out trick boarders' shoes like none other

that said, minilogo works well for both applications...and any grip that you can get at your local shop should suffice
yes, an uber-grippy, square-lipped slalom wheel IS the best for sliding

Slalom boards are slalom boards, not longboards. However, both of which are skateboards, bringing me back to my original statement.

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
man... when did this thread become a discussion...
i dont remember names, but here are the answers.
there are many types of grip, and you should find what is right for you, weather it be very gripy or less grippy, and the quicker you get away from the longboard vs skateboard mentality, the better skater you will be
mile high skates is the best place to buy everything if he has it.. supposrt the skaters even if it costs you a little more.
pepsi all the way

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
I've seen photos of people footbraking while taking a knee at high speed. Is this more stable than standup footbraking? I know how to footbrake normally and can do it at speed, but is it worth learning both methods or should I just stick with the regular way of footbraking?

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
david: maybe we have the same parents??? or maybe because it is one of the most popular names ever.
fluke: that kind of futbreaking is a bit harder just because you have to get way down, but if you get good at it you can do that through corners, which can give you a huge advantage, also you can put a ton of preasure on your foot that way and stop very quicly.. i think its fun, and always good to learn how to do every thing in skating because it just makes you that much better

Given:
A. skateboards
B. longboards
C. slalom boards
If A is equal to or greater than B
and A is equal or greater than C
B does not necessarily equal C.
I see your point.
Okay question for David:
When is it appropriate to dewedge a rear 35 degree randal...and what should the final angle of the corresponding front truck be no greater than?
I guess I'm trying to ask: (in your experience) what is the greatest difference in final angles of front and rear trucks?
