Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
When is a wheel considered broken in?
I know what braking in means, I do it with my cars, motorcycles etc. But up until now, breaking in my longboard wheels meant just riding them for a week or more and slowly start sliding a bit until they start feeling like they should. This is only true for wheels you already know, because how else would you know if its "broken in properly and feeling right" if you have not tried those thanes yet?
For new wheels I just read reviews, try other people's wheels, buy and ride them. As for breaking in, I think for me its more like the wheels break in, and at the same time, I am gettting used to the new wheels too. Then we meet in the middle, Me getting used to the new wheel, and the wheel getting worn down. Like a balance. Does this make sense at all?

arubadub: i think you got it.
guillermo: good for some bad for others. need more specifics.
otangsftw: pumping is forcing your board forward using fresh momentum created by energy transfer from your moving body to your board. I cannot explain it perfectly, but if you search how to pump, you will find great vidos on the subject. certain boards and trucks are better for it, but another huge factor is bushings, which supply a lot of rebound and energy transfer.
crazymoron: a race not sanctioned by an official skate organization. usually put on by local skaters/crews and skateshops.
punk_boards: when two peope stand on opposite sides of the road and when someone drives/bikes/skates by, pretend to pull an invisible rope, so as to scare the oncoming victim.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
My randals don't seem to always return to center. I can't be sure if they're like that when I'm riding, but when I'm at home pressing on them they always seem to come back a couple degrees off center.
I don't know if it's that my bushings aren't broken in, I'm using too light a bushing, something's up with the king pin or that I'm just a complete newb when it comes to setting up my board.
They're currently set up:
88a doh doh cone on top
92a Randal stock cone on the bottom
King pin about 2 threads showing.
Hopefuly somebody can give me some insight into this.

copperdusk: most of my boards have been like that with most of my trucks. i find it to be the bushings. over a longish period of time they compress a bit, and often a little lopsided. i found that it didn't really affect the ride but i rotated them around to even them out a bit.

depends on what wheel you have, core size and durometer
for example a 76mm flywheel will ride more roughly than a 75mm in heat because the core is so huge
