What's the best way to shim it? I emailed randal about it but they have been a little slow to get back to me. I was thinking of putting a little bit of epoxy in there and dremel it to shape

your grip might get dirty. other than that it just gets mildly less grippy over time. you can get it out with grip gum

I'm going to make my stupidity short and sweet for this question:
How much, if any, damage could rubbing alcohol do if applied on the outside of a bearing?
(I feel like the story behind this is rather embarrasing on my part. So I decided to leave it out.)

It oxidizes really quickly, shouldn't hurt anything, just changes the color of the bearing and shields and what-not.

only if you don't dry them off. usually if you spin each wheel for a minute or so you are fine, but if they are soaked, then you might want to dry them a little more thoroughly.

I'm sorry to post in here but I think there's some stuff you need to add. Bearings skated in the rain will definitely have a shorter lifetime than bearings skated while it's dry out assuming you clean them the same amount and if you follow K-SHIZZ's advice for the wet bearings. If you are worried about ruining your bearings, just get a cheap set of sealed bearings. Sealed bearings do a pretty good job of keeping the water out, but they aren't perfect. Mile High Skates sells them for around 9 bucks, and they are cheaper if you buy in bulk

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Ok... so, on my front left wheel, a bit between the edge and the base of the wheel, I have a small crack. It wasn't originally a crack, it was like a little LOOSE chunk of well, teeny tiny rubber that came out. What's left over is a tiny indentation in my wheel right on the edge. When I say small, I mean a whole That's What She Said kind of small. I have a feeling that the reason this is happening is because, sometimes, when my board is on the ground and I am off it, I simply nudge it with my foot to get it pointing the way I want it to, meaning it scrapes against the ground. My theory is that this scraping, especially on really crappy surfaces, is probably what chipped that little bit off my wheel. Would this explain it?
Also, currently I am not sliding with my wheels, I am merely cruising, carving and doing a FEW downhill runs, usually ones that level out or ones where I am footbreaking for the majority. This ranges from reasonably rough, uneven road to freshly paved to actual garage-level floors. How often should I change my wheels? They are 70mm ABEC 11's with 78a on the duro.
Cheers

I prefer 608Z bearings with WLG for resisting water.

Don't worry about the chip, all wheels often have bits come off, doesn't affect the ride.
How often should you change your wheels? When they don't roll anymore or the core explodes out of them or they melt. Essentially when you can't ride them anymore.
Oh... or if you just feel like some new ones, heh.
