Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
longboa: duro is how hard the bushing is. 99a is really hard, 72a is super soft. the duro may feel different depending on the company sho made the bushing. Barrels are generally more stable compared to a conical of the same duro. stepped/jimz style bushings provide a bit extra stability and sort of a multi-staged lean pattern.
mattw343: depends on the set up, but that would only really make the board lower.
copperdusk: if you get wheelbite and eat it. thats generally a good rule.
shorty: i'd say over 15mph

My search came up with this thread, too many pages to look for it.
What angle are Indys? And are all freestyle trucks the same angle? (freestyle as in 50-50 kickflip out type of ####.)

I believe kingpin in indys are roughly 17* however that is completely irrelevant to how the truck turns
and no not all standard geometry trucks are the same.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Hi david,
i'm a complete noob, just started riding after christmas. I got a sector 9 oracle for christmas and have taken it down some local hills here in ct, the board is 46" long and has 9 inch gullwing trucks. I want the board to be as stable as possible so i can hit the biggest hills here, however, the setup is not the most stable. Would moving the trucks further apart make the board more stable, and if so, how would i do that, or should i get the 10 inch gullwing trucks, or both. Pics of the board can be found on www.sector9.com under the carving series. thanks!

stability comes a lot with practice.
experiment with different bushings as well. a good place to start is by reading some reviews: Bushings. Different types and how to set them up.
good luck!

the 2 Urethane (rubber) donuts on either side of the track hanger. And yes, that's a good place to start.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I dont realy consider my self a noob but i have a question. When you have normal trucks (none reverse king pin) such as independents dose the angle measurment work like reverse kingpin turcks (higher number is more turn less stable low number more stable). What i am ultimatly trying to say is what is the differance between a 10* truck and maybe a 0* trucks such as a indy.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
1993surfer: if someone who knows truck geometry wants to clarify that would be great, but heres my stab at it: well first off a 0* truck doesn't technically turn. the pivot axis is straight up and down. And yes you ahve the general concept correct, though what determines the stability of a truck can be contributed more to the bushings, rider, and shape/mold of the truck itself. ie: bushing seat, rake angle, etc.
