Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
on thought on the primer, depending on the point, but sometimes it works real nice to just use one real thin coat of clear coat instead of primer.. just a thought

David, can a used pie pan be recycled into a good sliding puck?

Drew: Not a good slide puck.. but a very fun slide puck.. yes
K-shizz: that is what I do, just be sure that first clear coat is very thin. It makes it so the paint doesnt all soak into the wood, and i have found that it adheres to the clear better than primer

alright thanks! i'm ordering some new magic clearcoat soon that has harnessed the brightness of the sun and the reflectivity of a mirror!!! also, what is best for spreading it? I have yet to master this technique

I use a really nice paint brush.. but I know many people spray it, but spraying just does not look as pretty to me

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
what do you use to spread titebond? We've been using a different glue becuase the local hardware store didn't stock titebond until recently. since everybody says titebond is good, we're giving it a try and i was wondering how it spreads. it looks pretty gloppy and i don't want to pour a big thing of glue on and find out we don't have good enough brushes to spread it.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I need some help with some vocab on precision trucks.
What does spherical mean?
What are the advantages/disadvantages to having bearings instead of the pivot cup.
Why is there a bearing in the middle of the hanger?
Are they more stable? Or is it all a head game?
What are some other advantages of having precision trucks?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
hey david, k-shizz wants me to ask you what you use to draw out your truck mount holes. we've been using a spare baseplate, and i think that works fine, but he want to know if there's a better way to do it.

life is short: I didn't know kebbek was shipping any boards right now.. but with my experience with canada and US customs. anywhere from one to three weeks
Kevin: the spherical bearings are the bearings that are in the hanger and in the base plate.. these are not like normal wheel bearings that only turn in a circle, but have a pivot in the middle that can turn any direction.
These are good and bad. The good side is that every movement you make transaltes directly into the truck, now this is also the bad thing. It gets rid of all slop. It is like driving a car without shocks you could say.. On a nice road that will be corner great and be ideal, but if you dont know what you are doing, there is no built in room for error. In general this is why people like them, and why some people have a real hard time riding them. My personal opinion is that having the bearing in the base plate is great, but I dont like having one in the hanger. That would be the best of both worlds too me. I like to have room for error my self.
Tinypete: Brainfartalerts has a template sticker on his sig. buy those.. it is a life saver. I have used the old truck method before, and it is impossable to be precise with that, something will be missdrilled every single time. You can often make it work, but it wont be quite right
Backwoodsboarder: I would love to, but my night is packed, right after work I need to go to two halloween parties. I think we are skating, probably on Sunday if you would like to join. just cause i have a funeral on Sat that will probably take all day, so i'm hoping to find some time on sunday. i'll post it in the spokane skate sesh thread if i can make it work. Sorry i'm so busy, Normaly i'd take ya on a tour of spokane hills and skate parks.. but i've had two deaths close to me in the last two weeks, and that has taken up most my time.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I want to buy new bushings to replace my stock ones, but I'm not too sure what to get. I weigh 140 and I was thinking Orange Khiros for the front and Blue Khiros for the back. I want the board more responsive but not too tweaked to the point that the slightest movement throws me into the grass.
I don't have the bones to throw down for a full Khiro Bushing Kit, so am I on the right track or should I go softer for my weight?
