Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
David, i went to a girl's house a few months ago. We did some stuff in her bed, but we never fell asleep.
Now, she's telling me she got pregnant from sleeping with me.
I'm confused, I WAS AWAKE THE WHOLE TIME!

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
is there any downside to flipping offset wheels to prevent coning, besides possible wheel bite?
-
Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
wheel bite, and the grip difference.. just dont expect them to ride the same at all, but no, as long as you are ready for different wheel, and you arent going to get wheel bite, then you are in good shape, sounds fine to me

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
is there some kind of spread-on stuff like polyurethane, except that would get super hard and add strength to the board?
like a liquid CF/fiberglass?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
aight. oh btw, what are the pros and cons of otangs vs. big zigs? it seems to me like they are really similar but i havent got a chane to ride the big zigs. and if i can save some money on buying bigz instead of otangs then that would be nice.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
from what i have seen, oranges are often a little bit cheaper.
pros for oragnes: - when new, faster, gripier, and less chance of them being wobley.
Cons for Oranges - they wear fast, when worn they dont grip as much as zigz.
pros for zigz - more options for Duro, still very fast, grip nice, take some time to wear, and once worn still pretty grippy
Cons - issues with wobbley ones - this really has stopped me from getting those.. wheels are so much faster when they are new that i want my new ones to roll smooth, or its like puting on the breaks.
thats pretty much all i have.. i realy think you can go either way and be happy, and to be honest.. my worn in oranges arent as fast as they were, and they drift a lot more, but they are still darn fast, and even more fun to ride now for me

aight, that sounds good. i ride my wheels really hard so i'm kinda worried about wearing them out too quickly but i love my otangs so i might stick with those. im gonna put my 80a otangs on my evo again once i get purple in heats for my dervish.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I have a question for you...
Is there a reason for a pintail shape? Classic longboards always seem to be pins. Then you look at modern boards and they are mostly specialized looking - big cutouts for carving, dropped down for DH, etc... Pins seem kind of limiting on things like front wheel clearance, foot space for dancing, and maybe a weaker tail (I am guessing since I have never ridden one) - But you still see classic Pintails being made and sold. Was just curious if there was a reason behind the shape other than its "classic".

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
frvrngn: The pin shape Is for a few reasons. One is just the classic surf shape look to be honest. But also the shape limits wheel bite while still allowing you to stand on the bolts of the board, which is the most stable place to stand on a board. Also the shape its self creates a very nice flex pattern. The taper in the back makes it so there is more flex toward the rear of the board, but also makes it so the majority of the flex happens near the truck mounts.. this changes the angle of the trucks while in a carve, making the board more turny the harder you push into the corner.. other shapes do this as well, but this one does it very well
