When people say that sidewinder trucks get speedwobbles at a lower speed, what speed are we talking for the average boarder?

i think the offset would shorten wheel life, because if your wheel wears unevenly (like coning and such) you cant just flip it

my bad on the double post but i have a really good question IMO

i usually ride regular and push regular. but when i dance i can ride/push whatever way whenever. but i can do most of my tricks both ways. except, i can only shovit, nose manual, and do some other tricks switch/goofy. when i do body varials i can only spin counter clockwise no matter how much i practice. g-turns i can only do switch/goofy, but most crossteping i feel more comfortable riding regular. my question is: Is the fact that i'm blind in my right eye making me do different tricks in different stances because i have trouble seeing what i'm doing otherwise? also has anybody else ever had this same sort of thing for them(not necessarily the 1/2 blindness part). it really sucks because for the loaded challenges, i dont know wether to ride regular or goofy because that affects how i have to do certain tricks. anyone have answers???

I don't think some of you guys understand the point of thread. It's not a regular open ended "anyone cane chime in and answer the question" thread. It would just turn into complete chaos like all the other threads here. With a bunch of noobs asking questions and all the other noobss answering. Ask the questions and let David answer damn it!

BTW D, how do I measure to drill bolt holes? What glue should I use? How do I build a cheap press? How many plies? Should I search first?

imfromirvine: Koa is from hawaii, and very expesive, though now i want to try it

    hybridtheory:

    1. use the ball of your foot, just like a sprinter in track, anytime your heal is touching the ground it is slowing you down.

    2. off set wheels have more grip, and less wheel bite issues, and they cone really nice center set drifts more, and can be rotated.

Reeceman: Dopamine is a hormone and neurotransmitter occurring in a wide variety of animals, including both vertebrates and invertebrates. In the brain, this phenethylamine functions as a neurotransmitter, activating the five types of dopamine receptors — D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5, and their variants. Dopamine is produced in several areas of the brain, including the substantia nigra and the ventral tegmental area.[1] Dopamine is also a neurohormone released by the hypothalamus. Its main function as a hormone is to inhibit the release of prolactin from the anterior lobe of the pituitary. Dopamine can be supplied as a medication that acts on the sympathetic nervous system, producing effects such as increased heart rate and blood pressure. However, because dopamine cannot cross the blood-brain barrier, dopamine given as a drug does not directly affect the central nervous system. To increase the amount of dopamine in the brains of patients with diseases such as Parkinson's disease and dopa-responsive dystonia, L-DOPA (levodopa), which is the precursor of dopamine, can be given because it can cross the blood-brain barrier.

Mr. Social: very soon, i promise. and no, i dont want to build luges - as deeno says "I stand up to pee" actualy more than anything, i dont want to do any more work than i'm doing right now. I wont have time to skate if i take on more things like that

t-man - for the average boarder, those trucks will be hard to keep steady over 25mph, but it is a good chalange, and will make you a great skater if you can do better

k-shiz - it is very normal for things to feel more comfortable different ways, i can only kick turn right comfortably, but airing left on my snowboard feels very comfortable, just try to learn everything both ways and you will be rad

Ward - I think you have a bushing/washer issue, this bushing and washer setup should fix the problem you were having

Arcane - if you dont know these answers, i'm very scared for your clients jk jk

4 layers of 1/8th inch bb, or 5 or 6 if you are bigger

Titebond 3 - dont get cocky and try other things, just stick with this

bolt hols - buy the sticker from brainfatalerts - its a life saver

cheap press, no such thing, but buy a rorakit (or however you spell it)

and by all means search if you want to build boards. I spent 6 months just reading old threads before building my first board

Steve - because they are fools. and intelegent people fall in love because they are smart

texasbomber - abec 11 used to be better than randal, but now that randal is fixed and abec 11 are wobbling, i would say Randal is better

Pats - come here and i'll show you - oh wow, that made me feel icky writting

Timorne - yes a little self promotion is there i guess, but mostly this is started becuase i'm sick of seeing questions answered for new people with completely faulse info from people with no experience, and here you are getting info some a skateboarder, not someone that just picked up a longboard and has read a bunch. And if i dont know it, i'll send you to who does, or proclaim you "not a noob" that and i enjoy answering questions and helping people on their way.

    2. what is the advantage of a off center hub on wheels.
    1. depends on what's comfortable for you. there's no right or wrong way to push. i push with the ball of my foot, but i'm starting to have foot problems thanks to a messed up ankle and having to push a little awkwardly for the past couple months. just push how you like.

    2. off-center hub: more traction. all the weight is pushed into the bearing seat and directly onto the ground beneath the bearings. with more urethane outside of this, when you try and slide, the weight is then distributed throughout the whole wheel, offering more traction. you can have larger wheels with less chance of wheelbite (more clearance).
center-set hub: less traction (opposite of off-center hubs, all the weight is transferred to the outer edge of the wheel as you make a turn, and without that extra 'thane out there, you lose traction faster), you can flip them around and wear them down evenly, thus extending their life, better for rain riding as far as protecting bearings goes (it's harder for water to get into the bearings if they're in the center of the wheel as opposed to the outside edge).
