$tauberc: Mary is mid 40s if you have a huge tail wind, and 35-40 (if you have a very good tuck and clean lines) without wind.
The green thing on Chaputs board is a fairing, it is made to make him more aerodynamic with his brazilian tuck.
tm_cruzer: Jimz bushings are a cheap alternative to jimz bushings. $25 is not much to spend to make a randal turn the way they do. you can buy randals and the jimz bushings for less than a set of holeys, and they will ride as good or better than most trucks on the market in my experience.

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
O.K. Dave, this is legit, I really want precision trucks. I have (mind/speed) wobble issues. When does one need these?
-
Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
Texasbomber: You never need these... If you have Mind/speed problems, you need to fix your mind, though you may have some board/truck/bushing issues as well that could help you.
#1 start bombing small hills on a mini with super loose small trucks (this will get you over the wobble issue right there)
#2 check to see if your truck setup has slop issues. where the truck can move side to side without turning, Bear grizzlies are notoriouse for this. if this is the issue, a stim shaped bushing usualy fixes this.
#3 does you dh board have enough concave so that the back foot is cupped in a tuck, this can help greatly for stability since wobbles usualy come from the back end.
#4 throw a 35 degree plate on the back truck, or dewedge it, this will make the back track and the front turn, greatly increases your stability, i have heard that Jimz is currenly riding a 0 degree back base plate for this reason
but if you want precision, then get them, but dont expect your wobbles to go away, precision trucks have no slop, so that helps, but many people find them twitchy for that very reason. I believe that if you are wobbling at 45ish on a randal style truck, then you gotta get your head on strait first before spending more money, cause that is probably where the issue lies, and go back to step #1 - that helped me tons. hitting 20mph on my mini made 50 feel like a piece of cake on my speedboard

oh, i forgot about the momo question.. momos are wheels that you cant get, and people only want them because you cant get them, they arent real fast or agile, so dont worry yourself and if you really want them, send $500 to chaput and he will get you some if i remember right.
and k-shizz this is the spot for noob questions, lets not be calling anyone stupid in here.

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
I have a question. I am new at longboarding and am limited to parking lots and culdesacs now. I dont know how to stop so I can start bombing. I know there is a foot drag.
Whats the best way to try to do a non ..coleman slide or any that requires gloves. Just a powerslide? What can u suggest so I dont bust too hard when I try?

What is the air speed velocity of a coconut laden swallow?
-
Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
Skatercop - in the longboard world, a power slide is a stand up slide, it is actualy best to learn this on a short board with hard wheels, becuase you need a decent amount of speed with soft wheels to do this. So that is my first suggestion, is try it with a different board, and maybe in the rain, just to get the motion down, and so you can try it at slower speeds to keep you from killing yourself in the process.
but my main recomendation is practice your foot breaking a lot, you get good at this and you can take a 50mph and stop pretty quickly and you can practice this at pushing speed because most people can push up to about 25mph. but the main thing is, get some gloves, kneepads and a helmet, and get practicing them... no matter how good you get, you want to be able to do a coleman as the safty stop.

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
A 54-year survey of 26,285 European Swallows captured and released by the Avian Demography Unit of the University of Capetown finds that the average adult European swallow has a wing length of 12.2 cm and a body mass of 20.3 grams.4
Because wing beat frequency and wing amplitude both scale with body mass,5 and flight kinematic data is available for at least 22 other bird species,6 it should be possible to estimate the frequency (f ) and amplitude (A) of the European Swallow by a comparison with similar species. With those two numbers, it will be possible to estimate airspeed (U).

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
What is the benefit of an aluminum/composite board over a wooden deck?
Is it just for torsional flex?
Or is having a heavy/light board theoretically faster?

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
Vulgardisplays: I do not believe that there is an actual benefit over wood. Though from a builders stand point, i would say that it is becuase you have more control over what flex you have and where, as well as the weight issue for a composite board. but you could argue a point as to the benefit and draw back on either side, and that is why people are not racing exlcusivly on aluminum decks. if they were actualy better accross the board, then people would be only racing that, just like we have seen in luge.
but the flex issue, the accuracy of the concave that you can build and the adjustments you can make with just a few screws as in the Rogers Bros 3 piece. And I know the rogers bro.s say.. "you dont race in a wooden car. so why would you ride a wooden skateboard at 60mph" and they do have a point. on the other hand, i still think that we have yet to uncover all that you can do with wood to make it do exactly what you want it to do.

Re: NOOB Questions Aswered By Dopamine David
Guroo - there could be a number of answers there, but my guess is that you used soap as lubricant.. stop doing it your self and find a girl
