coolio5640: go to forums and select any section you want. then just above the posts in that forum it should sat "new thread" click that and create away!
molzors: make sure you are ballanced right before you put your foot down. you will want your front foot facing mostly straight forward. then gently bend your standiing knee and touch your other foot to the ground lightly. if you feel comfortable, continue to apply more and more preassure onto your brake foot. also apply forward preassure with your break foot so it doesnt just grip the ground and throw you down.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
i just lubed a brand new set of bearings and rode them today. there was a strange metal crunching sound when they rolled. is that a normal bearing break-in period sound?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
asf2j: Sounds like there might be a very small rock or sand in there or something like that. I'd suggest cleaning again, or ridding it really hard and seeing if it goes away;.. if they are expensive bearings then clean them again, if not, i'd take my chances and ride them

I had that problem with my bilitins, it was a small grain of sand, just take em out and spend the extra time cleaning them...
it really down't hurt them usually the grain or tiny rock will push itself out from pressure

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
molzors: lots and lots of practice. also, one thing Cat said once that really helped me, is put your heal down first, and start with your foot back and slide it forward. So you kind of slide it into the footbreaking possition, if that makes sense. but also, start slow, do it a lot, and find some super mellow hills to foot break all the way down. a lot of it is getting your leg that is still on the board strong enough to hold you very still so you are applying the same preasure the whole time.
coolio: first, decide if you have something to post that will be a good subject for the silverfish community as a whole. Then stop and think again about it and make sure that it will be informative and entertaining, or at least something most will enjoy, or a question that has never been asked. Then search for a simular thread. if after this you still have an original idea, and a good and helpful thread to start you simply, click on the forum tab, then choose what section you would like to post in, then click the "new thread" button.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
i just bought my first fullface well my first helmet in general, i recently got a little concussion and it was a wake up call, i'm gonna get a triple 8 regular style helmet soon for use during sliding, i prolly will never get into the habbit of wearing any kind of safty equiment when just commuting though.... it just one of those things. but what i'm really asking is whats the minimum speed i can wear a fullface and not seem like a douche?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
flrider: many would say any speed, and stop worrying about what people thing!! i'm not one of those people. i'll wear mine at 15mph, if it is super tech, and riding with lots of people, and will mostly likely wreck. but my general rule of thumb is 40mph. under that i just do my half helmet. but all that completely depends on conditions, and who i'm riding with

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Can you recommend some helmets that are suitable for low speeds? I probably won't ever go over 20-ish, 25 mph max if that. I ask cause I'm having trouble finding a helmet that will fit the shape of my head. I got a Pro-tec Classic, and the front and back were too tight while the sides barely touched my head -- I think my head is more oval-shaped. I remember reading a post by stevie that was a how-to on shaping your helmet with a heat source, but I'm not comfortable doing that.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
any of that style will work great. personaly, i'm a huge fan of S-one. most comfortable half helmet out there for me. but there are tons of others as well. you could check out Bern, or have you tried the protecs that dont have the hard foam in them, that might help it fit a bit more, for slow speeds, i really prefer the soft foam, with no hard foam

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
i have Randal 2 180s and orange Khiro bushings in them but it is a little too loose for some basic cross stepping and other basic dancing I'm trying(it's a dervish) do you recommend any setups that are a tad tighter than the oranges for a 140 pound rider?
also can you explain why round lipped wheels have more drift then square lipped ones?
and my bearing feel slow after i cleaned and lubed them yesterday,i rode them for about an hour after, do you know why this might be?
thanks Alex-noob

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
and another quick question, im planning on spray panting my RII hangers, would the chemicals in spray paint do any damage to the truck/bushing/pivot cup?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
amato: i'm 135 and ride venom super carve 85a/90a bushings. its a little loose also, but oo nice. fo you i would recomend maybe a 90a standard bottom with an 85a carve top. i also had a blue/orange double barrel khiro combo i really like, that would be good for you too! however bushings are almost completely personal preferance. if you want to spend less money, then get a double barrel pack of blue khiros. then put those in as the bottom bushing and the orange barrels in as the top bushing. but just keep i nmind that after riding a lot, any bushing combo you use, you will get used to and adapt to.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
a speck of dust:
definitly remove anything plastic while spraying, but after its dry, then it wont hurt anything to put them back in, but while its being sprayed and wet, that will break down the plastic.
amato: the square edge of the lip will grip the pavement, a round lip gives it less traction.
if your bearings feel slow its one of two things. one is that they just might not be broken in enough, but most likely it is due to the wrong kind of lube. i've found that bones speed cream works the best, and everything else feels a little slower.

I've done a bit of searching on this topic. I've seen people recommend flipping the hangar, but I didn't see anyone explain why. I have 10" Chargers if it makes a difference.
