i hope that makes sense

Awesome, thanks. I had actually tried it out after someone's recommendation not too long ago, but I didn't notice any difference. This thread is really useful. Thanks again.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
hey david if I home made some bushings and i made them a little to big to fit in the bushing seat does this affect my ride. They are otangs I cut into barrels and I see that they lay over the seat instead of fitting in, because of course they are too big. Does this do anything? or is it more for show. thanks

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
kwist, if there isnt someting to hold it in the bushing seat than your hanger will shift on you, you wont really feel it do this specificaly, but it will just feel a bit unstable. one great way to fix this is to cut a step into it. so the bottom part of the bushing will sit into the seat and the rest will go over it, like a jimz or a stim.

David, i have been wanting to start building boards for a long time. and i finally built a press. so i talked on the phone with a wood supplier near me and he said he had BB, so i drove down, and he said he had to order it. so i wait a week and he buys marine plywood instead
here is a link to wikipedia on marine plywood: Marine plywood - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
would this be a good wood to build with? and its in 3/8 inch if that helps

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
how much does the rider/ride weight ratio affect board choice in dh, i know it obviously affects flex, but what about board control, cornering, ability to slowdown and stop in emergency, etc. i am asking because i am on the verge of investing in a dh board but i only weight 120 and a i'm scared riding thick heavy boards like an evo would be like riding a death trap.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
i have been thinking about getting more serious about DH, i have a few DH boards that were standard drop through boards about 40 inches long...but i want to get a real DH board but still be able to cruise and carve a bit. the boards i have been trying to decide between are the rayne nemesis and the rayne hellcat. those boards look great, BUT i have never been able to ride them so i really dont know and i have some unanswered questions that nobody seems to know. 1. how brittle is the nose on the hellcat? it seems everyone makes such a big deal about the nose breaking.. (here is my big question) 2. i have a friend that has some Original trucks and i really like them for how turny they are, and the wide hanger. it seems that people think they are a good DH truck with some tuning, but are they able to be used on drop-through boards like the hellcat or on a flushmount like the nemesis?
So I traveled in a wagon with George W. Bush, Dick Cheaney, John Ashcroft, and Condoleezza Rice. During the journey, the group encountered a case of cholera, a broken arm, two wagon fires, one fever. Condoleezza Rice got fleas and died, but that's because she was having relations with the oxen. Dick Cheaney got bitten by a snake. Ashcroft - he ended up dying of dysentery. and bush got killed by indians. but thats the Oregon Trail for you.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
aznmobsta: i rode my dervish with flys once and HATED it! it felt like i was always off balance. i was using 83mm flys hoever so they were much taller. but i now have otang in heats and love them and highly suggest them! great grip and slide. its really up to you. i think the flys will probably feel fine but i dont necessarily reccomend them
chaser: what are the board you are riding right now? because what you have could be fine for DH as long as you have the right setup. as for the hellcat, the old version had a weaker nose, but that has been improved upn in the newer version of the board. as for origionals, i have never used them but i have used crails, randals and paris and highly suggest randals for what you want to do. they can be a kick ass DH truck and also carve very niely with the right bushing setup.
FL_RIDER_93: im 130 and ride an evo with crails and otang 80a in heats and have no trouble with drifting, pendy's, shutdowns, or cornering. but generally speaking a topmount will give you more leverage over the trucks, a drop thru will feel fery similar but lower and a bit more stable, and a lowered or double dropped board will (depending onf the board and nos/tail angles) mor elikely feel more stable than the above two. howerver, almost all of ta boards ability to turn/slide, comes from the rider and the set up you have on the board.
the gunslingers: a sector nine godess will fit 80a otangs if you have a half inch angled riser. i suggest just keeping with 70mm wheels unless you use risers.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
i have a few diff boards, im not exactly a noob to DH, i DH all the time, but i have never bought a board. i make my own. i like to make composite boards out of fiberglass and assorted hardwoods, and sometimes ill throw in a foam core for fun haha. although, i dont want to spend the time to make my own board and design for this season though and i have always wanted to buy a rayne hellcat, or a nemesis, or maybe a fullbag speedboard or really anything that could be a good board for DH and a little commuting. i dont like flex in my decks and i like drop throughs or drop downs (most of my decks are drop down. if you have any suggestions for decks let me know. i would def stick with either randalls or bear smokies. here are all the decks im considering:
madrid's drop 45 (i think its a bit pricey though)
fullbag's speedboard
landyachtz evo or drop wedge
insects mosquito
rayne's nemesis, hustler, and the hellcat
im seriously considering the three rayne boards, but then i go back to the fullbag board (although i dont know much about the fullbag speedboard or the hustler)

thank you. I always enjoy reading other building forums. I saw one guy who converted an ice chest into a cf portable car sound system.

if you like building boards, you should look into going to a rc or hobby shop and checking out theyre supplies of carbon fiber and fiberglass. i am thinking about making a carbonfiber board, its a little pricey though
also a good way to start using fiberglass in your boards is to buy 1/8 inch sheets of birch from home depot, a few packs of fiberglass sheets, and some resin. you can make a sweet deck out of just that stuff and it only takes about 12 hours (mostly drying time.) its a great way to make a quick board for no reason, or just to try out a design and see if you get wheel bite or not.
