Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Yeah, I've got some Crails on my hellcat, and I've ridden the trucks with JimZ and Venom bushings. I was actually wondering if he knew a way to get more lean out of them besides bushing combos. I like how solid they feel, but I really would like some more lean. I've got some venoms in it right now, but I'll soon be doing a JimZ/Venom combo. I was mainly wondering how Randal 42* plates would work with Crail hangars. I know I'll have do to a pivot/pivot up mod, but other than that, would it keep most of the stability, but give it some more lean? Or should I just spring for some Randal trucks with 42* plates?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
the restriction is from the hanger, not the plate, if you want more lean, get randal hangers instead

Crail plates are 45*, so really if you wanted to combine Randals with Crails it would make more sense to put Randal hangars on Crail plates. I recommend just opting for 42* Randals though. With the right bushing setup you can have a killer DH setup with a ####-ton of lean.
Basically, what David said.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I'm going to ask again and hope I get an answer
I have built a simple press and now all I need is wood
The lumber yard I'm ordering from doesn't have bb on site so they need to order it for me
So my noob question is, how thick should I get the wood. Because if I buy a 5x5 sheet and cut with the grain 9 inch strips I could have 3 boards if I make it a 2 ply. But I don't know what thickness and I want to build a dancer and a mini
Thanks dave, from a dave

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
thynameissquidly: that would really depend on the thickness of the bb. i build boards too with tinypete. we use 1/8" bb and use 4 sheets for a dancer and 3 sheets for a mini. so do you know what thickness you are getting? if you have 1/4 inch bb then you can use 2 plys for the mini for sure. i dont know about the dancer though,

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
if you are pressing concave into it, i suggest 18th, its much easier to bend, and holds its form after the best, use 4 layers and youll be good. if its just a flat board, dont worry about the press and get 5/8 sheet and make 5 boards.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
from the khiro site, regarding the gold ones:
You ride hard. You are the man. You need to get your Bling-on. Go for the Gold!
These are the bushings for you. Engineered brass inserts, compounded with a special Engineered grade urethane makes these, the bushing of choice for the master stylist. For the man who refuses to settle for anything less than best the world has to offer. Manufactured with the highest quality, these are the bushings that made Khiro - The King of Bushings.
my conclusions:
apparently the "gold" are brass, and the "silver" are aluminum...also, the silvers are offered in all the khiro colors; the gold are only offered in white, blue, red, yellow, and black. according to the site, the golds somehow have more rebound; idk if it's because the brass is softer and more malleable than aluminum or what.
now on to my question:
dave, what are your thoughts about grizzlies on a topmount?
yes, an uber-grippy, square-lipped slalom wheel IS the best for sliding

I have some bearings that make rattling sounds right now. If I don't get to cleaning them for a few weeks but I don't ride the board either, is that bad for the bearings?

If they are rattling I cant imagine its a good thing, if you leave it rust could start to build. Try to give them a clean if you can, if not they may turn nasty. They may just need some speedlube
