David has said it, I'll just quote it.
It's kind of ironic that I'm doing what David usually does in order to tell you not to do what David usually does.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
bucks: i'm just not a fan of grizzlies, they dont feel right to me, and for a top mount, they are too tall imo.
ramune: i wouldnt worry about it. worse case they on of them seizes on you and you buy a new one. not a real big deal, brearings make noise all the time, as long as they are spinning ok, just clean them when you can, but its probably not a big deal
thynam: 3 layers of 1/4 will probably be overkill, 2 layers might be a bit flexy, but if you make sure you add some concave it will probably be pretty good

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
A few questions:
-on KS boards, do you put grip tape on the tails?
-how do you apply griptape (on the KS m1)
-when should you and how do you replace griptape (on the KS)
thank you!

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
put the grip tape anywhere you want grip, if you want it on the tail then put it there. you put it on just by peeling the back, sticking it on, and cutting off the excess. ive never replaced grip, i just clean it with a grip tape cleaner. it is very hard to remove, so i dont do it, and i have never had a board last longer than grip.

1. What is a spherical? I've heard it in reference to bushings and pivot cups.
2. Why exactly are maguns so good/expensive?

Thank you. That was really helpful. I ordered my first board (m1) and I ordered it without quartz grip because i was told that the grip tape would be easier to remove later on. do you think i should've gone with the quartz grip?also, is it really necessary to replace the washers and kingpins on the m1? (i was told that the curved washers rub on the bushings)

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Hey David, I just felt that I should post this somewhere:
After asking about getting more lean from my Crails, I decided to do some messing around with my bushings. I have 2 93a Venom DH's, 2 90a's, and a set of black JimZ bushings. I had been running a Venom/Venom combo, but yesterday I did some experimenting. First, I put the JimZ bottoms with 90a Venom tops, and that felt pretty good, but I was pretty sure I could get more lean. So I took that off, and put on a 90a Venom on the bottom, and a JimZ top bushing for the top. It is now has some crazy lean (I'm pretty close to wheel bite on my Hellcat), carves very nicely, and still feels pretty stable, even with the trucks tightened midway down. I haven't thoroughly tested it out, but I'll post it here when I do.
I just wanted to post that in case anyone else had the same question I did.

Dear David
I'm fairly decent at boarding but i've sustained a few injuries lately (broken bones and gnarly road rash). I feel like i should quit before things get worse. How many injuries have you sustained and how do you stay motivated?

Hey david, do you know a good site in Canada to buy, I've been to:
Switchback longboards (Decent Prices, good selection)
and
Pipeline Surf (Not very good prices, but I live 1 hour away so I should just go.
Too bad Mile High doesn't ship to Canada. Oh well.
Thanks.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
ntherpro: it links people to the definition of it
lfatboy: sphyricals are a type of bearing, that doesnt just rotate in a circal, but it turns as well, many precision trucks have these in the hanger and in the pivot cup, this completely gets rid of slop in the truck, so the movements are completely precise.
Maguns are a type of dh truck, extremely good for very high speeds, but tend to not have as much lean as other trucks. also, it is just wrong for maguns to be meantions without posting a picture. so here ya go.

Flickr Photo Download: Magun a lot
they are expensive because they are hard to get, and expensive to make.
ilovemurphy: i have never used that grip, but any grip that i have ever used has been extremely hard to remove. i really wouldnt worry about replacing it, just buy a grip cleaner and go with it that way, i've had boards go into a creek and was able to just clean the mud water off of it, and the grip is just as good as ever.
evidenceofllammalamallama: i think i know what you are talking about. its all about pushing into the corners, kind of pumping into it, so when you turn push down real hard to flex the board, and let it pop you out of the corner. i hope that made sense, its hard to explain. its also, when you enter the corner get lower, then push your legs to strait as you go through the corner, then drop back into the next one.
slipery bean: first of all, your board will not have a tight turning radiouse, but if you would like more lean, and titer turn, then maybe try some white jimz's, that way you have a softer bushing, but stil have the benefit of an oversized bushing.
tinypete, good call, you will get a deeper turn if you have a normal bushing on the bottom for sure.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
merv: from skateboarding I have had two broken wrists, a couple fingers, a hip, and tons of road rash... just a small example

with all of that, i couldnt wait to get back on my board. Modivation is nothing that i've ever had to stir up, or keep it going. Honestly, if you have to try to make yourself skate, then dont bother skating. why do something that you arent motivated to do, its not like football in highschool, wher you are trying to help a team, or get a college scollership, or something like that. its just fun, and thats it. so if its not fun, then quit till you want to do it again. Now i'm not thinking that is what you are actualy asking, i think what you are actualy asking is, how do you get over the fear to still push yourself after getting really hurt. Well, one key thing is, right after getting hurt, before you even go back home, get back on your board and pull off what you were just trying. Don't let your self call it a day with a fall.. if you dont need to go strait to the hospital, then you get back up on your board and do it again, and pull if off. After this wreck, we went to one more hill right away and bombed a hill so i wouldn't let the fear set in. Its very important. The other thing. I hardly fall and get hurt anymore, and i havnt had road rash in a real long time, and most of that is learning how to fall in such a way that you wont get hurt. and also, I dont wreck near as often any more, and when i do it is either something super tech, in which case i'm only going 15 mph or so, and its easy to pull that off scratch free, or i'm going real fast, and in leather, again, then i wont get road rash. So there is the long and the short of it from my perspective but wear your knee pads, helmet and gloves, and learn how to use them properly.
someone100: Sorry, i realy dont know where a good canada place to shop is. Does Daddys board ship ship there? if so, then that can be a good option.

I dont, i thought they were 90 a, but i'm not sure, but the venom 90a, sure seems a lot softer than any other 90 i've riden, thats for sure.
