sorry lou, i missed that earlier..

I have never ridden the 7-0s I know they have been around before the reflex zigz were out, so maybe there is a urathane difference, but that is my best guess.

Gotta say I would pic the zigz, just because that is the one i have ridden, but that is not a very good answer, but its the best i got, never even seen a 7-O in person.

yeah, your evo will definitly be more grippy. i would really suggest it, and broken in ones will still have a very smooth drift that you are use to from your flys

    awesome thanks!

theres this quick hill i like to practice turns on thast gets you to 30ish mph and has a really nice hairpin at the bottom of it. and on a parrallel run it has a nice right turn hairpin at the bottom. and i need some better grip in those turns. i've been running off the side into bushes and broken glass a lot lately.

I just made my first board and the way I cut my wood I can build 3 boards (6 blanks), but one will have a board with the grain going sideways and one going vertical.

I built my first one vertical grain (here), toothless method
will the horizontal act differently/how do i cope with that
    im using 1/4 bb

5x5ft piece of wood cut into 4x1ft blanks

the cross grain will act differently for sure, but use it as your top layer and if you are around 160 lbs it will hold you just fine, it will feel a little soggy, but that will actualy dampen the bumps for you, i have done this on speedboards before and it actauly can work very well, also keep in mind, that because of the added cross grain, it will be very difficult to press, just takes a lot more preasur to bend that wood, but I have a board just like that, and i've been riding it for 2 years now, and works great

Nice thread, David. Entertaining AND informative. What else can one ask for in a forum?

Anyways, here's the NOOB question. Can you tell me what "gas pedal" concave is?

    Thanks

well i have seen a number of different concaves being called gas pedal, but from what i have figured out so far, is that it is specific concave right where your foot is that is shaped like this _/ I may be incorrect here just for lack of experience with it, and it is more comon in slalom circles, i have only seen one dh board that was said to be gas pedal, and it had foam weges put into the concave. So thats the best answer i have on that, and again, others can probably answer this one better

    Hello Dave,

I have a truly noobish question to ask: What is the advantage of a flexy board? And how do you know which flex number is the one for you?

well, if you are refering to loaded, they have a guide on their site as to what is probably the right flex is for you. but there is more to it than that. if you are one that is a real aggresive carver, or pumper, you might go with something a little stiffer, if you are a little more casual of a carver, then a softer board could be a little better, for a more comfortable ride. it is just like flex in snowboards. the flex in the board is there to push back against you in a carve, and make a board more carvey, and can actualy snap you back into your next turn. So that is the basic idea of it all.. but in all reality you wont know what is right for you untill you try a few to see what is perfect, cause it is 90% personal preference.
