We also learned the merits of garage door openers. After you wisk your bike into the garage.. you call the PD and report it stolen.. oddly enough we always found them the next day.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
someone: go buy some mini logos.
sean: it does significantly lower your turning radiouse, and it is significanly lower, but I dont know exactly how much.
stopandroll: i have not ridden one, but its a tried and true board, looks fun and heard nothing but good things about them
chaunce: the difference is mostly in the bushing seat. they are the same angle, so the only difference really is in how they respond to different kinds of bushings. So in general, with a regular standard style bushing, the paris trucks will be more restrictive, and with oversized bushings, like a jimz, they hardly turn at all.
dhbomberman: a little camber would probably be fine. camber is really used so that the flex in the board has an aggressiveness to it. So the board should sit flat when you stand on it, if it is still cambered, then it is too much, or too stiff, or the wheel base is too short.
vince: doesnt sound like a good idea to me. Those trucks have two completely different ways of turning, and i dont recomend mixing the two, but if you decide to do it anyway, i'd love to hear how it comes out, just dont try it on any kind of fast hill first, cause we dont want you to die.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
nope, dont lube your bushings in any way. just let them be, and they will work just great!

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
would two plies 1/4" thick of home depot luan be strong enough to handle a drop through?
edit: also the entire set up is supported by an 1" thick solid maple bar....

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
definitly wont be strong enough Luaun is actualy a cheap alternative to Fir or Pine, with a nice mohogony veneer. There is nothing strong about this stuff at all, and would not be considered a hardwood at all.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
its more than likely actualy your pivot cup, and not your bushings at all, just put some bar soap shavings in your pivot cup, that should fix it right up for you, and yes it is very normal

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I pull them off, and then just squirt some speed lube in there, and put them back, and once that doesnt do the trick, i buy new ones caues i just run reds or mini logos, so its pretty cheap.
there is a nice cleaning tutorial on here somewhere that will give you a good description of the "right" way to do it though
here is a great tool for this Mile High Skates

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Dave, You may have answered this before. A few guys in my crew favor grizzlys to smokeys. They say the grizzlys are turny-er and not as stiff. One even dumpoed the smokeys and started using grizzlys. I'm kinda finding out the same thing after using both.
Question:
Is this difference in turnablity due to Smokeys having spherical bearing for a pivot connection and Grizzlys having the rubber bushing?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
yeah, the slop in the grizzlies gives them more lean for sure, and also, they dont have as restrictive of a bushing seat as the smokies. I'd still pick randals over grizliez any day, cause they have less slop, with still as much lean, and a better bushing seat. also, smokies are made to be a pretty specific dh truck, and grizzlies are more of an all aroudn longboard truck, so smokies really shouldnt have as much turn as a grizz. they are just made for two different things
