i agree james dean was awesome.
1. he was truly a rebel without a cause.
2.he loved porsches

that does fully encompass this subject.. good work
david,
if i have an erection that last more then 4 hrs,do i use this to my advantage or seek medical attention as cialis would recommend.
also what ever happened to those old roller ball skate wheels that were totally round like tennis balls.
Loadedfisherman: by all means use it to your advantage, but man 4 hrs has got to get just painful, and i know that women always say that guys are too quick, but i do not know a female that could also go that long...
and I would love to get my hands on those wheels, i do not know what happened to them, disapeared with the death of skateboarding, like most every other company from that time. I do believe a friend of mine has those actualy. I think they would be fun in a bowl but with such a small contact patch, they would not carve real good, and i think they would be a bit slow. but can you imagine how nice those would roll over coping? looks like fun to me
Nice thread. I've asked similar question in other threads, but let me put it here, and see what happens.
I have a sector 9 bomb hills board. And I'm looking for 'faster' wheels, and also bigger ones.
Mine are 65mm 78a, sector nine wheels atm.
I'm looking at the Otangs. (since apperantly they are above and beyong...from my noobish stand point browsing these forums.)
Anyways, how will otang in heats deal with sidewalks?
I know their dura is higher, but they flex more than my S9 wheels. My wheels i cant collapse by hand, like they do in the otang video. And the bigger diameter will be better for sidewalks too, correct? So, for sidewalks/commutingonallsurfaces/bombinggarages....little of everything, should I not be afraid to go with otangs?
And also, how long can I expect them to last? I wonderd in the "speedboarders" thread, and they said they wear fast. But thats for speedboarding, how long do they last for my purposes.
get the 70mm oranges, they are extremely fast, and they do wear fast, but i have liked them just as much broken in and a little coned, they just drift more now, which is very fun, they will roll over crack just fine.. the different urathane formula makes them as fast as an 80a, but feel as soft as a 78, or actualy, very simular to a set of 72a's that i have
but whats "fast" to you? Like 6 months? 1 year? As far as commuting etc is concerned...(maybe 1-2 hours of riding per day, some days longer)
Will the 75s last longer maybe? just more urethane...

I'm working on a V-Lam.I haven't been on a skateboard in 20 years so my initial response was bigger is better!
The deck is 72"x11"x3/4"- 4" back from the nose is 9-3/8"- 60" back from that, the width is 8-1/2. With 2x4's simulating a 60" wheelbase it has a shy 3/4" of flex. It weighs in at 14lbs. and I go 220 on a good day!
I was leaning toward Bear 1052's with the appropriate riser/angled risers, with Earthwing Superballs 76mm/82a.
Am I on track here,er' no?
Bearings? Reds to start?
Bushing set up???
Will the front truck placement,(4"back to front bolts or center of wheel?) provide the potential of a nose manual?
I'm just looking to cruise and carve to the best of this boards abilities!
Thanks David!
elmike: for what you are doing, those wheels will last a very long time. I wouldnt worry about much wear unless you are sliding them a bunch, and even then they arent bad, but go with 70mm if it is a top mount, cause you want good wheel clearance
Vangrafenstein: Sounds like a fun huge deck. Everything sounds good, those wheels might be a bit wide, and with them being 76mm it might make your board a bit all, so maybe look into some 70mm wheels, but they will be fine either way really, just might need more risers. The trucks seem fine, i'm more of a randal fan personaly, and loki really likes holeys for a bigger board, so thats a thought, but personaly i would get stock randals, with their new awesome bushings..
also, longboard larry does 6 inch nose and tail, and with a board that big, you dont have to worry about not having a long enough wheel base, so maybe give it a little bit more nose, but it will be fine.
anyway looks fun, with bearings, go with reds or mini logos
From what I've read (here), this board is "dropthrough", with the grip tape covering the mount of the trucks...idk. Through the grip tape over the trucks, you can feel inconsistency's, IE ridges of metal underneath. Which I've been thinking of cutting that section of grip tape off and revealing the metal...just for looks. lol...
Ok, then. 70mm it is. I'm also thinking about loosening my trucks up a tad, due to the fact that at low, low speed my outside wheels will come OFF the ground on a tight turn. I guess, I'll have to tighten them back up, for higher speeds...to keep control. But yeah, if I loosen them, I guess I'll need more clearance. So the 70mm is better...
<--deep inside he wants the bigger ones..(yes that sounded wrong...lol)
So,are you thinking RII 180's? Stocking bushings are a cool starting point for my girth!
I haven't researched any 70mm wheels, anything in mind? Also, is there any chance of wheel distortion with too soft of a duro and my fat arse on my tank board?
Oh yeah, what do you think about front truck placement?
Thanks David!
elmike: Personaly, i always lean toward a 70mm wheel, just cause i love how they ride, but if there are wheel cut outs in your board so that wheel bite wont be a problem, then going to 75 will make it so you can roll over bumps easier, and it will be a more comfee ride. Also, definitly loosen those trucks up, and dont take hills that are bigger than you can handle with loose trucks, and before long, you can skate 50mph on loose trucks. Feels so nice that way.. I can not ride a board with tite trucks any more.. it just feels wrong. and i would def cut the grip off, it would look better
vangrafstien: yeah, go randal 180s, stock bushings, unless you dont like them, then just start trying other options, but I think you will. the new ones are pretty nice.
for a 70mm wheel. maybe flashbacks?? that is my favorite all around wheel personaly, in 78a. and many big guys ride 72-78a wheels, so they will grip better for them. I have read on here about wheel deformation for things like that, but have never seen or talked to anyone with real life experience with this, So i personaly wouldnt worry about it. as for front truck placement, i think a 6 inch nose, and a 6 inch tail would be very nice, though my experience with huge boards like this is limited. I built a 60 inch board, and did a 4 inch nose, and it is hard to nose manual, and looks a little funny, but I did that board wrong, and it really looks like a giant penis anyway, so truck placement wont help mine in any way shape or form
How do I know I'm getting the NEW bushings on the randalls?
With the 6" truck placement on the nose, is that to center of front mounting bolts or center of axel?
Thanks again!
well, they make a 190 mm hanger.. they are right on their way.. many people are using them right now for dh.. a 50 degree plate does not mean its not good for dh. but they are dong everything right, and making all the changes that is perfect for them to do, i think it is only a matter of time before they have a 40 degree plate, and if their new bushings are nice like a jimz, then you have the ultimate dh truck and they will dominate the market
vanwhatevertherestis: the new bushings are a clear red, and they have flat washers on them. 6 inches measured from the closest part of the base plate to the end.. so there should be 6 inches of board showing from the tip to the base plate
run, every day, twice a day. Work your way up to 4 mi every morning and 10 miles every night... also buy the ab wheel thing. dont lift weights unless they are very light.. this will shrink your total mass very quickly. I used to go from 170 to 130 within about two months doing exactly this, and i was in shape at 170. it will shrink your muscles and get ride of any bit of fat that is hiding anywhere.
