Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I've got a question for ya. Is there any difference between having a Randal 42* baseplate, and just flipping the hanger on my 50* Randal?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I got a few questions for you.
1. Will Randal Hangers fit on Randal DH plates? I am wondering for my new speedboard setup.
2. Are Khiro Yellow 92a Double Barrels good for slower DH for a 120 lb kid? I have 88a inserts and they are too turny, not speed wobbles, they just over turn. I go about 25-40 in my normal sesh. If not Khiros, Are Jimz Black's or Whites best for my weight. My board is top mount.
3. In my carver which is a landyachts cheif I have blue Khiro inserts. They don't take up enough space in my paris trucks, so I can't get them tight enough. What should I do? Are other types of Khiro's have more height?
4. I need a new speedboard. I am looking at the hellcat, the dropspeed and some kebbeks. I like the dropspeed graphic better, and its lack of W concave, but it seems a bit too little for someone who is 5.9 and growing like a mofo to tuck well on. Also are kebbeks good speedboards? I have been looking at the Jimz and the Ian Craften. I don't like the flushcut on the Jimz becuase you have to run randal DH plated, and I am not a fan of the Wedged nose on the Ian Craften. What truck setup would be good on a 17* wedged nose and a 1.7'' dropped deck? I also love the kebbek's graphic, but I am concerned about their turning because they are so darn low.
David, or like K-SHIZZ or someone else please respond ASAP. Thanks

1. Yes, it will
2. I would recommend red Khiros for you. It seems like you like a stiffer setup but yellows are way to stiff for a 120 lb kid.
3. You could get tall cones or just put some extra washers in there to take up some extra space. Won't hurt your ride at all.
4. With the JimZ you can request other types of baseplate flush cuts, you just have to ask them. The Drop Speed is not a small deck, you should have plenty of room. With a 17* wedge like the Caften, I would recommend 35* Randals up front and 35* rear since it's flat, that should be a good start for you.

Yes, all the weight rests on the bolts. If I were running a drop through, I would use large washers or something similar to disperse the stress on the wood.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
LOST, yes there is a difference but I'm not sure how to explain it. 42* plates have a lot more lean than the 50*. I personally don't like the feel of flipped hangers but I also don't like Randals. Lots of people do though so it's worth a shot, getting the 42* over the 50*

Yeah, I can crank turns way to well on my paris 50* with blues, completely cranked down. With just a tiny bit of lean I can have the board WAY over the trucks. With my new board, I will get proly 35* and JimZ blacks. I can almost like do circles at 5mph in the street, I dunno what the deal is.

if you're gonna get jimz I would go with the white bushing for you
or like Reece said, red khiros would be good for you weight, or maybe some yellow and red venoms, which is what I've been running for a few months or so and they've made me happy.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
I'm running 42randal 180's, will it kill me if I flip the back hanger? But not the front? And does it make that big of a difference between ride hieght from back-front. And will having a higher up front affect stability or what will it do? Thanks

I'm running 42's with the back one flipped on my board
I don't really notice the difference in height while riding, and it's nice to take away that leverage from the back so most of the turn is in front

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Quick noob question:
I have a 9 inch pool/old school shape deck on 169s but it's life is almost over. I was thinking about getting an 8.6 inch deck to replace it, but will the 169s be too big?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
just to throw something here
I have a crappy board I bought from a local shop, the one thing that's OK with it are the 9-Balls wheels.
My question is what should I change first, deck, trucks or wheels?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
collman: if it has 9 ball wheels, I'm guessing it's a sector 9 board complete? in which case if I were you I probably wouldn't change out much of anything because they can be pretty fun boards to ride on. Now, depending on if you want to get into a certain style of riding it may be in your interest to add something else to your quiver, in which case I'll need to know what you want to do on the board
ryantheman: the indys might be just a tad big, but not too noticeable and it'll most likely work to your liking.

I should have clarified, it's not a Sector 9, it's from a local manufacturer (I live in argentina), the same with the trucks, national wheels suck too much to be usable, that's why I went with some Sector 9 wheels.
I plan to mostly just do some carving, and I'm starting to do some light hills.
I was planning on getting some Otangs wheels or if decide to change trucks, Gullwing Chargers (both of which I can get from a local store) but I can also order anything from Daddies.
So, what should I change so that it'll make a noticeable difference?

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
collman: well if the quality of the trucks and board aren't that great then most any change you could make would make a noticeable difference
if you have the 9 balls, stick with them for now, I have had some wonderful times on sector 9 wheels
if the board you have is holding up alright, then I'd probably get new trucks, although I wouldn't buy gullwings because they are not up to par quality wise imo
I would recommend paris or randals if you are able to order from daddies

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
530thom: Those small hairline cracks happen to most boards with drop thru cut outs eventually. they usually don't lead to anything unless you are seriously abusing your board. Just avoid major heavy impacts to the deck and you should be fine. if it gets increasingly worse, then you could wood glue it.
