I have reds in all but one of my setups and with a little maintenance they have lasted me two years. I have heard that mhs bearings are comparable if not better than reds performance wise so you do the math
thanks for the info. also would maintenance entails cleaning bearings every do often. And what grease is the best/cheapest to use?

Dro.Pru :maintenance includes cleaning every now and then, using bearing spacers and speedrings
I typically use bones speedcream but there are other alternatives

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Dro.Pru: bearings spacers are mounted on the axle in between your bearings and help to keep them properly spaced
it allows you to tighten your trucks properly and increases your bearings life because the inner races won't be pushed towards each other due to side load

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Hi Dopamine David,
I have a Powell-Peralta deck 31" by almost 10" wide and I would like to ride it at the skatepark bowls and halfpipe. Right now I have old 68mm gravity wheels on it and old gravity trucks that say B-2 on them. I took them off of my old 40" gravity board. I also have two flat risers under each truck. The board feels a little high. Should I go with 60mm or 62mm wheels? or....do I need to get an entirely different set up? This is not my main discipline but I have some friends who like to skate bowls and would like to hang with them every so often. How should I set up my board?

would it also have a lot less grip because of how much you have to lean off the center of your board to get the same amount of turn?
are lower degree trucks more "stable" because they are less responsive?
Sorry to jump in here....
In addition to other factors, lean and "response" are also determined by the amount of slop. The tighter the tolerances, the less room your pivot points have to move forward/backward, up/down, etc. This begins a quicker action on the bushings, allowing the hangers/bushings to compress/actuate faster and move through their cycle faster and more efficiently.
A couple of good examples would be Jimz or Smoky trucks. Very tight tolerances/sphericals which help the turn activate very quickly. This is why you'll hear some people refer to them as "twitchy", and rough roads can cause bump steer, etc. But they don't lean as far as most other trucks (bushings and seats also play a role in this, obviously ). With these, basically, if your trucks are moving, they are turning.
What I'm getting at is that lower degree trucks aren't necessarily less responsive. A truck that has a large turning radius isn't always less responsive than a tight-turner.

When I flip the hangar on my trucks, do I have to rotate the bushings too? Or can I simply just flip the hangar and call it good?

keep the bushings in the same positions relative to the baseplates when flipping the hangars

it's probably just stress cracks that happens with every board, if you are really concerned about it I would call Larry and ask him what he thinks, since he's the guy that made the board, he'd be the guy to talk to

Also, how does the lower bushing differ from the upper bushing. Is there a specific job for each one???

We also learned the merits of garage door openers. After you wisk your bike into the garage.. you call the PD and report it stolen.. oddly enough we always found them the next day.

so indy makes a 165 truck now? oh wait, they don't.
your post confuses me completely, is it at all relevant to anything else?

sorry my fault 169 truck
i will rephrase the question because ur right it was very poorly worded and i apologize
is the independent 169 the same height as the 215
im just asking because i saw the two next to each other the other day, and the 215 was significantly higher
and yes i was aware the the bushing choice affects the indy's height and angle but i was not aware it would be that dramatic (the 169 had the stock bushings in it, the 215 had black comp 11 bushings)
hope that make it easier to answer
