Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
Hi,
I'm really new to longboarding (as in I've done it once). I loved it though, and am shopping around for a board to mess around and learn with. I have three options that I'm looking into right now. Could you please tell me which one may be best suited to me? I'm 18, about 5'2", and live in downtown Berkeley, so the streets are relatively flat and rough.
1. Sector 9 Padang- 39.5"
2. Gravity Indian Arch- 37" Diamond Tail
3. Sector 9 Longboard Joel Tudor- 38.3"
Thanks!

Yo guys, so I know I haven't been helping anymore so I appologize for that but this thread is really falling appart. it is supposed to be free of discussion. the only posts should be answers from designated members, and questions from anyon else. if you are not a designated "noob saver" please dont answer questions or start any discussions on the thread, all it does is clutter a good thread and make it like any other thread on the fish already. so please, follow the rules of the thread so it can remain a uniquely helpful thread.

He already has 10" Gulwing chargers and S9 speed goddess 75mm 76or78 durometer wheels I want to know what you think so long as they are helpful thoughts.
That sounds like an awful setup, super high, slow to push around, basically pretty much the worst setup I can think of. No ones use 97mm Flys for DH, only beginners that believes that they will be faster...Which they are not.

Shouldn't they technically have a higher max speed, just a slower acceleration?

never mind answered my own question haha.
Hey Buddy its called epoxy resin! That shouldn't have even been a question! If you're making a skateboard you'll want to use an epoxy with a 2:1 or 1:1 ratio, and unless you wan't it to crack, or you are making a surf board, don't ever think about using a foam core (personal experience) try you're local boat repair shop if you have one they should at least be able to direct you to a provider if not sell you some. other wise there's google

Yeah thats what my dad keeps saying about them, that they will have a higher max speed and that because the wheel is bigger it covers more ground with fewer rotations thus releiving the bearings of un-neccessary stress, heat, and friction, and increasing your potential terminal velocity. pardon the physics jargon and even now the board is too high because he's put an inch worth of risers on the damn thing to provide enough clearance for the fly's when he get's them. but my question was also for the grom biz trucks, does anyone have experience with them?

bigger wheels are going to equal more stress on the bearings not less.
also, that setup sounds ridiculously stupid

Technically and in theory yes, but in reality(aka skating): no.
