Truck width is in part personal preference, but it is mostly determined by board width. Running 150mm trucks on a 10 inch wide board is just asking for wheelbite, and you can't get proper leverage running 180mm trucks on a 8 inch wide board. You want the trucks and wheels to be as wide as your deck. What do you mean regular tires?

Who are the "professional" noob question answerers... I got bitched at by jman1365 for opening my mouth on this thread. I'd like to see this super special list he spoke of.
About the coned wheels question, Carveuse.com sell wheels that are coned from 84mm to 80mm. I find them very pleasant.

I had the idea that coned wheels are bad and was trying to get rid of the coning by asking how to fix it. But is this actually a good thing? for carving specifically? any more info on coned wheels would be great.

Re: NOOB Questions Answered By Dopamine David
So I have a question. On the Speedparts.ca website (JimZ's site) there are both white and black replacement pivot sleeves, the price is the same for either. What's the difference between the two (besides color, ha ha). Is one hard, and one soft? They'd have to be the same size since they're both for the JimZ baseplate. Anyone know? Thanks.

That's my guess too, but I was curious if anyone knew for sure. I'll post the same question up on Coast as well. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will know. Thanks.

It's user preference. I messed up on that link. It's Carveboard USA - Home of the Original Carveboards
Here are the wheels.

The white sleeves I know are delrin, and a lot harder than the bushings.
Never tried the black ones, so I'm not going to speculate on what they're made of.
But if they are delrin, the difference in material properties between the 2 colors would be negligible in this particular skateboarding application.

Ok, thank you for the info. I didn't know that white sleeves were delrin (I've only used the black delrin pivot cups that come in the Pogos). So, I wonder what the black material is then. There must be a reason why they offer the two sleeves instead of just one, and state that colors may vary. Thanks again

If they state that colors may vary, I bet they're both delrin.

No, sorry for the confusion. They don't state anything about the pivots other than a picture and a price.
