Suggestions on a nice mini?
Alright, now I'm guessing that this is an extremely common question, and I'm terribly sorry to be asking it, but explorations through the top 10 pages or so of this category and some fair use of the search function didn't come up with much. I figure I'm probably missing something in my lack of sleep, but whatever.
Basically, I'm looking to pick up a mini for the Holidays next month, and I'm seeking suggestions on what would be good.
I'm highly considering the Flexdex Grenade23 for $91.
Skates on Haight would give me the choice of:
Wheels- Sector 9 70mm, 65mm, or 61mm, or Gravity 66mm Street G
Bearings- Skate on Haight (ABEC 5) or Bones Reds (+$12.00) (the Bones swiss and Quadline Ceramics are just too expensive to even consider)
Trucks- Independent or Tracker, both +$9.00
So those are my options, or, I can get the deck itself for $65, and if you can suggest for me a package of better wheels, bearings, and trucks for under $50 total, I'd do that.
So any thoughts?
And if not the Grenade, anything under or around $150 would be solid, too.
My other board is a Sector 9 Carbon Spoontail that's 38 and 1/4" long, if that makes any difference in what you might be suggesting.
Hope to hear back from you guys soon!
I got some awesome help picking out my S9 from the Fish, so my hopes are high!

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
Oooh.
Both of those look very interesting, for sure.
What setups would you guys recommend on those boards?
I was looking at the Gnome on this page and the Humu on this page.
Out of the options they give there, what would be your recommendations?
Admittedly, I'm a long time of lurking around here away from being able to pick my own components.
Any thoughts?

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
i have to recommend an Arcane mini-custom color and size and specs. he has great customer service and is super helpful with order trouble.
As a setup get some bennett vector 4.3's and some 62mm alligators and your good to go

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
I highly recommend any of the Legendary mini's (Gnome, Merlin, Moby) with Bennett's. Awesome, super carvy, pumpy goodness.
Feel free to PM legendary if you have any questions. They'll get you exactly what you need.

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
I've got mine setup with the paris 150s and purple otangs. It pumps like a beast too

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
For the Gnome, either truck is good. Many like the appearance of the Paris truck, it has a 50 degree kingpin angle. The Randal is the same but you can flip the hanger over and get a lower angle which will make the board a little less "turny" if you desire.
We sell lots with the Orangatangs, and close to the same amount with the Zig Zags, Lime is the more popular of the three listed.
With 150 trucks and 70 mm wheels, no wheelwells are needed, bite is not an issue do to the design.
Bones REDS are the standard bearing, the board comes gripped at no additional cost in several choices.
Send me a pm if you have any questions I can help you with.
We not only stand behind our boards, we stand on top of them

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
In turns of the any of the boards from legendary, he can get you whatever trucks you want. In terms of wheels, just choose whatever color you like the best.
I've got the gnome with randal 150's and otangs and i love it to death. Also I think that right now legendary is sending out boards about 10 days after ordering, for a complete custom board
On the other hand if you were looking for something with a kicktail I'd suggest the ladera purple heart with 4.3 bennets. My buddy has one and I love riding it around. It's skinny, like an old school bananna board and the kick tail makes it great for crowded sidewalks. The humu/arcane mini are both comporable boards and both are also great if you'd rather have something with more rocker.

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
I've sent off messages to Arcane and Legendary.
The Ladera boards are a little on the pricey side for me. I'm really liking the lower cost of the Legendary and the Flexdex.
So we'll see.
I'm going to wait back on responses to the inquiries that I sent out, and if anybody else has any suggestions, throw 'em at me.

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
The Gnome seems to be the new Humu these days..
Minis are super fun, and the bonus is that learning to handle a 13-14" wheel base really helps your skating overall.
My favorite mini is the Gravity Ben Wei 24.
Whatever you buy, do not get the Gravity Street-G`s you mention in your opening post, those wheels just suck.

Re: Suggestions on a nice mini?
Flexdex IMO not good but that's only from my experience with the 30.
Humu great choice, soon to be bamboo Humu maybe greater choice.
I can custom build you the deck you PM'd me about no problem.
