180mm hangar reverse kingpin trucks.
Offset or sideset wheels.
Round lipped for slip, sharp lip for grip.
Probably purple sabre barrel bushings.
If you read the AWESOME guide at the beginning of this thread, it tells you pretty much everything you need to know.

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
What wheels should I get for a 46' Gravity Concave carve? im 105lbs 5'5 i have tracker darts trucks and blue soft doh doh bushings the rest is all gravity standard parts
Its for campus and right now I have 69mm s9 tunnel wheels on it, but it feels like every crack almost throws me off the board =\ And should I change trucks or will those be fine for a beginner and last awhile?

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
That setup is all fine. Cracks are harsh, it helps to go at them faster and deweight as you zoom over them. You're not really gonna be able to get much cushier on that board. Skateboard wheels are small and react to cracks harshly. Trick is to keep the speed up to get over them. I always say 70mm can generally roll over anything so 69mm won't really make a difference.

The Tunnel tarantulas I have feel slow and hard for some reason.
Try some different wheels? EW, Avila, Sidewinders/StreetSnakes, if you want to stay small those GFH Fatties haven't dumped me on pebbles and street trash yet.

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
the only other thing i can think of is an original. they use a spring loaded system. but screw just getting trucks. i say you get an original deck unlike your S9. either that or explore other aspects. but the only trucks i know that kinda feel like sidewinders are the originals. but bennets and randals are used for the same thing.

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
I'm going to buy a loaded vanguard complete off daddies for a friend. I put it on flex 2 (becuase he likes longboards not to be too short nor flexy, and he's about 5'8" at 140 pounds) with black paris 180's and a shock pad.
I can't figure out what wheels to put on it though. The price for the whole thing with the (crappy) dano's wheels, which come at no extra charge, is $230, which is pretty sweet.
What wheels should I get? I'm thinking about Orangatang 4presidents 80a. Do you have any recommendations?
Also, what effect do bigger wheels have on your ride (turnability, speed, smoothliness )

Otangs are good wheels all around, so are bigzigs. It depends on what you're friend is going to do with the board though.
Bigger wheels = higher top speed, and generally smoother. not sure about turnability.
btw, vanguards are really flexy already, so maybe you should reconsider the flex 2, especially if your friend doesn't like the board too flexy.

Thanks. My friend fits into the flex 3 zone (or about) so I decided to him a flex 2. Also, I decided to put gumballs on his.
I also bought a pair of gumballs for myself for my topmount. Since these are a bit bigger than my old S9 nineballs 70mm, will I get wheelbite?

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
what board, and what trucks?
I am running 75mm Durians on my dreamwave with paris 180s w/ the stock angled risers and getting no bite
I LOVE JESUS!!!!!!!!

if your friend fits flex 3 flex 2 will still have plenty bouce. is he on the higher or lower end of flex 3?
depends on your set up. i no that my bombhill would def. bite because it sometimes bites with my 70mm nineballs. if you have it on risers or you have cut outs or big enough wheel wells then no it wont bite.

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
I'm going with retro zigzags 70mm 80a. When I replace the wheels, all I have to do is pop everything out, replace the wheel, and put everything back the same order it was?
In addition, do I need a bearing press or whatever (because I saw one at my local skate shop) to install new bearings?

Yes to first, no to second.

If you take two wheels, both of the same formula and design, just one bigger then the other, you will have a few differences:
- The bigger wheel will be smoother/plusher. More 'thane depth = More shock absorbtion
- The bigger wheel should accelerate slower, yet it should hold it's rolling speed longer.
- Bigger wheels are supposedly less "agile" (whatever the hell that means
) then other wheels, although I personally can't vouch for this. I know the above two are true, not so sure about this one.

Re: What wheels/deck/trucks/bushings/bearings should I get for #insert discipline#?!?
Thanks guys. Two more options besides the vanguard (too expensive :P):
NS Heist
BC Eel
Legendary Demon
(btw for this board, should I go for the extra layer of plywood? I'm 140 pounds, but I like my boards to be a bit stiffer.)
Any other suggestions for a not-so-expensive nice drop through board?

i have a demon and it is really flexy.I also weight about 180 pounds though. Mine was made of baltic birch and ive heard they started using maple instead so they may be a bit stiffer now. It is light and very easy to hit tricks on. If i were you i would look into a comet FSM as well.
