Longboarding Resources & Q/AGet or give friendly, patient answers to, "Which board should I get?", "How do I stop?" or "What's wedging and how do I do it?"
I've been putting this off for a while, but I'm actually getting a new board this time. However, I still can't decide between a few. I'm interested in a drop-through, and have narrowed it down to a Scimitar or Dervish. I had originally set myself on the Scimitar but for some reason I have this idea that's it's low-quality and kind of flimsy, especially compared to the Dervish. Could anyone compare the two for me?
Besides, I was thinking if I had problems with the Dervish, Loaded is a larger company so it may be easier to get it replaced or something. However, the Scimitar is much more affordable, and I'd have to save up more for a Dervish.
Another contestant could be a Night Skateboards drop-through, which some claim has more rebound than a dervish. However, I couldn't find anything about it besides that. Here's the link: Our Boards « Night Skateboards
It's the very last one, as shown here:
Anyone have experience with this board? I plan to contact the maker (still can't get over the fact that he's only fourteen) and ask for a price.
Thanks, guys. I'm prepared for any Dervish-related flames..haha
I'd say go with the scimitar.. I wouldn't justify dropping $180+ on a dervish when you can buy 2 scimitars and still have money left over.
dervishes are good boards. its justifiable.

Im kinda in the same boat (except I cant afford a dervish) Im getting a Scimitar this christmas, and am looking for other similar boards that I might want to buy instead, so when i heard this "night" board is similar i got excited, but the pic wont show up on my screen, even on the night website, could someone repost the pic for me, maby in a different format cuz i really want to see it. Thanks.
Wow, thats a long sentence. Lol
+1 for the Scimitar, its a nice board, not as nice as the Dervish maby, but its still a nice board.
there awkward feeling, and are way overated. scimitar = no
get the night, there amazing . and pretty well priced
that's not biased at all, is it?

Lol, coming from a guy who's name is "nightskateboards"
Im not saying anything against the boards, just that there may be a little bias here
im just repping my company man
edit: dervishes are cool, but im not sure what disiplines your thinkinh about skaitng.. i mean if its dancing, id say go for the dervish, its more well known for dancing, but the scimitar is a dh board right? ive never followed kracked skulls, they seem pretty nice though, but you could get a night for cheaper, and its custom... no bias.lol

WHAT I RIDE- Night, Randal,Abec 11, Venom, Sector 9, Rayne, And ICARO
The scimitar's flex is less bouncy and more mellow. Some take this as being a "dead" flex or not returning as much energy. The Kracked skulls also has a mild concave while the dervish is flat. As for quality? cosmetically it's not pretty, but it's a whole different story when it's under your feet. The scimitar is also wider as well and by no means a DH board. I've taken mine up to 35 but is way flexy to be a DH board.
Some other boards to consider:
Legendary Demon
Never Summer Heist
Both are supposed to be flexy, twin, and drop through, which is what I assume you're looking for
Has anyone ridden this board, it looks pretty sweet, and I would buy it over a KS cuz its got a bigger nose/tail, and it looks cooler, but if it doesnt ride as well then its no-go.
Depends on what you're doing. I don't really like the scimitar, just seems like it's not quite a DH board or a carvy board. I love by dervish for commuting and cruising around. The Night looks good to me. I haven't ridden them but Everett is a good builder. If price is an issue, go for the Night.
Legendary demon, or any of their boards for that matter. Really high quality product being put out over there and the guys are really cool. It sounds like you would probably be looking at either a demon or a griffin from over there. Check out the flavor of the day legendary thread to get an idea at a few things.
The fact that the Dervish has no concave makes it much less appealing to me and practically knocks it off the list as a possibility. I'd honestly rather get a Scimitar than the Night board, I just wanted to know how people felt about it, and price isn't much of a problem for me as long as it's not absurd.
I'd really rather not start to consider other boards, because I always get my choice for a new board narrowed down to one or two boards, then I see a few new ones and then I'll have to think about it for another month or two. Haha..
However, before I go with the Scimitar, I'd like to see a few more opinions about this. How's the Legendary Demon's flex? And the Neversummer Heist? lnlds had the right idea, I'm looking for a "flexy twin drop-through," just something to have fun with.
Also, how do these boards pump? I heard it was difficult with the Scimitar.
