Re: Original Skateboards?
I love my derringer. S8s with the standard bearings and kryptonics 76mm 78a wheels and I really want to learn to slide. Has anybody slid their derringer? Is it ok to learn on or am I fighting a losing battle with this board? Do i need to get different ( harder) wheels?

This might just be the photography dork in me, but that is a really nice picture! How's the Derringer ride? I'm thinking of getting that the Apex 37, or the Custom 35.

i dont know if the manhattan project would be your best bet. it is restricted as far as upgrading and wheels. you can only put a wheel as big as the one that comes with the complete. its a nice board though i guess it just depends on what you want to do in the future. i myself bought the Derringer 28 and absolutely love it. i bought it just to take on trips and use for campus cruising. later realized that even though it is a shorter board (28'') and the trucks are turny, you can still take on some mild hills with it. now i use it for just about anything.

Re: Original Skateboards?
yeah i know what you mean i had to figure it out too when i first started. go to forums and scroll down to General Discussion. Click on the topic you want to post in. once you do that you will see a bunch of threads going down the screen without scrolling down you should see "New Thread" on the left side of the screen. thats it.

Re: Original Skateboards?
Dude I have an Terrapin 34 from Original and I'm lovin it, that thing can carve up any street i'm on no matter what, its amazing and I love the size, wide enough for the stability but short enough to be somewhat portable.
As for those guys lookin to just buy an Original deck, if you call or email the guys at Original they can give you prices and you can order decks from them, they just don't have them up on the site yet because they are doing all the programming themselves instead of hiring someone to do it for them.
In the quiver:
Original Terrapin 34
S8 Trucks
62mm Kryptonics
Cell Swiss/Bones Reds

Re: Original Skateboards?
is it possible to use original trucks without using a riser? i notice that the nut, end of the kingpin and the metal thing connected in the wavecam might hit the board if you dont use a riser. anyone of you tried to connect the original trucks directly to the board without any riser?

I hope you didn't get avilas. I used my avilas originally with my Originals and it was just so scary. Do a hard carve and break into a sudden slide.
Why bummerman do you care if you use risers with them? They were designed to have risers.

I like them; I think the truck design is really cool and unique, and they're a good company to deal with even if their current website is based on Apple.com's code. I called to get some replacement bushings and also stiffer springs, and they sent them out with free shipping the same day.
Definitely, their customer service is (from my experience) fast, friendly, and very considerate. Its nice to deal with people who treat you like a person, ya know?

How are original trucks when it comes to sliding?

Re: Original Skateboards?
Easy,
Since they turn to much you can bust out slides better than anything else

I personally wouldn't get one if sliding was high on my discipline priority list. The cast and truck design just isn't the best for sliding. As mentioned, Original trucks are drifty, but they will not hold up well to sliding. You will be breaking the cams, and your cast will start to wear away (inevitable with these trucks,) making the trucks more 'sloppy.'
