Re: Aera Trucks
You can make fun of my simple answer all you want, but in the end, most trucks aren't anything special. They just feel like skateboard trucks. For instance, Andrew Mercado is often thought of as Super Gnar because he rides indys for Downhill. I set up a topmount with indys to see if it was really that hard, and the result was, they rode just like trucks! No crazy difference, the skateboard trucks rode like skateboard trucks.
Same thing applies to Aera. They feel like trucks, so I think I could ride them and support my friend's company.

I did indeed ride them at Vernon... Even at their monstrous width. The set I'm riding right now is the widest truck I've ever ridden or seen, and I can't believe how well they worked, even at that size. Unfortunately the first set suffered an error in communication between myself and the machinist so they ended up 210mm wide.
These are going to be unstoppable when narrower. Can't wait for my next set... There's been a slight delay in the next 9 sets as we're adding in a lot of improvements into them. THEY ARE 196mm, DO NOT WORRY. Expect them out in the mail this week.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your first sentence. I was in no way making fun of your response. It was excellent.

woah, no need to get defensive.
I was just poking fun. I agree. trucks feel like trucks. Some are shinier and prettier than others, but they all have major similarities.
I do notice slight differences in trucks though, such as 35* plates lean way more than 50* plates. Or indy's are real fun with a soft bottom bushing.
So describing these trucks as trucks works , however, there are comparison's that people (read: potential customers) may want to hear, such as how do they compare to ______ truck. And a review coming from someone in the "industry" who has kids with rich parents looking up to him, wanting to be like him, you could at the very least offer a little bit more of a review or comparison, which would in turn help your friend out. (granted kids look up to him as well)
nahmean?
edit: i'm glad you capitalized Super Gnar. it wouldn't nearly have the same effect as lowercase letters.

Re: Aera Trucks
Very nice...
2X old-school, but not 3X new? machine time I guess, unless I misread that.
Oh and there were perpendicular trucks before either randal or gullwing.
Gullwing had a crack at a patent first, randal was the first to get it right, both were close enough to make it a very hard call as to who started working on it first, things took even longer than they do now back then...

Bushings (and wheels) are a whole new science.... Bushings are pieces of urethane, that feel like bushings. Wheels... well, they go round and round...they roll and such. Go fast then slow. Then fast again. Just like wheels do really! It's a no brainer really.
I wonder how so many people are investing their time and money creating and marketing this crap.

That's why this "trucks that feel like trucks" talk feels so wrong when its coming from a kid that spend months developing and hand-pouring the GREATEST EVER bushing formula and shapes. Then ensued to make money out of this small operation and hyping it in every-way possible all across the community. Mere urethane.

I hate hype.

Re: Aera Trucks
I think waht Zak is getting at is, Trucks pretty much all ride the same. They lean to turn, there are few trucks out there that really give that crazy difference. Bushings and wheels can actually change the performance of the ride.
More than anything, its about not overhyping something, and just riding it. Who cares about all the small details, half the kids wont be able to notice them anyways. Less geeking out and more Super Gnar shredding.
And LOL at stutter shades. Its STUNNER shades.

Stutter shades precede "stunner shades." I used to rock a pair till Kanye ruined it and wore a pair in a video. I threw up in my mouth a little bit, threw the shades in the trash, and never wore them again.
As for the trucks, I sent the money for a set. Either 210mm or 196mm is fine with me. I like wide trucks, and clearance with smaller wheels is the biggest issue for me since I'll be running them topmount; but the clearance looks fine as far as I can tell, and I'm excited to try these out.
