Re: forty2 - The answer
I dig it so much.
Only 1 little piece of constructive criticism...feel free to send it right back though lol.
umm well i'd say that the front is ok, even though the cutouts are really big. maybe try making the cutouts smaller?
It seems that your front foot would be a little too far from the front truck for comfort......
but my main piece of critisicm is the bottom of the shape.....imo it's just way too thin when it starts tapering rapidly....all that space can be used as footspace if you just make the cutout smaller, or don't make it taper relaly quickly.
sick board, love it!

Re: forty2 - The answer
yeah the front isn't bad at all.
maybe you can try making a symmetrical version?
Also another thing ot keep in mind with the cutouts......the sharper the cuts are the weaker it'll be (i think it's more prone to splintering if it's sharper). rounding them out looks aesthetically good and will improve the durability just a tad i think

Hey solo, just wanted you to know that I am still interested in my Ammo board, but it will have to wait until after the holidays. Don't lose that design, I will be getting it after the holidays! free yourself up with the other boards that want to be built fast.

Re: forty2 - The answer
Here's the latest build:

I was asked to put my own spin on a Hosoi Hammerhead, keeping somewhat true to the real deal but making it a little more cush in the process. I'm a couple days away from finished right now and it's looking really good. I really wasn't all that excited at the start of the project, it's not really my particular flavor of board, but today when I went to cut it out I totally fell in love. Complete 180. Funny how that happens, it really is a sexy shape BTW. Looking at two dimensional photos just really wasn't doing it for me and it wasn't until I was turning the deck over in my hands that I really came to appreciate it.
Anyway, this brings me to a whole other subject that I'd like to address, copying the work of others. I really don't mind doing projects like this one, taking an existing deck, building it from bamboo, and adding my own little flair(wait til you see the bottom). It's another part of what building custom is all about. However, I do not make direct copies and that's important to know. I've gotten emails asking for Dervishes(one person even wanted a big Loaded logo on the top and similar art on the bottom) or a Legendary Demon(this particular request really made me laugh more than anything). If you want a Dervish, a Demon, a Hammerhead, or an Evo, go buy one. Don't ask me to make one, that's not what I do. If you want me to start with someone else's board and put my own spin on it, I will gladly take on the challenge. Even if it's not a deck that turns my crank at the beginning, it my very well do it for me by the time I'm done, and this build is a perfect example of that.
