As of right now I am sending FREE samples to a few product testers so you can hear their unbiased feedback. I realize that the way marketing works nowadays you have to be skeptical, because there is alot of BS out there. I realize that Board Brite isn't for everyone, but I have full confidence that many will find this product useful because of what it offers, and because of the response to the prototype boards lined with Board Brite here in Florida. As for the next round of videos, I will have more action shots and more shots of the protection factor (minus the Billy Mays) in real life situations (i.e. the board hitting curbs). I don't want anyone to buy this product because they were wooed by some video, or website, I want people to buy based on the fact that other boarders find it useful and worthwhile. No snake oil salesman here, just a man of my word.
i'm glad that we'll get some feedback on it, i would avoid any camera tricks in the future, when your advertising your product through a video the watcher has to take your word on alot of things since they don't have the product in front of them, so when ever i see something like that in my mind the personal loses a lot of credibility.

Understandable SpeedDemon, thanks for the input, I'll avoid the Sham Wow routine in the future and just stick with showing you guys this stuff in action and letting you see it through other boarders. Can't wait for the reviews!, I'm shipping the samples tomorrow.

Awesome, can't wait to see how it holds up. And yeah, Sham Wow was horrible; they didn't even work close to a normal towel.

Ok guys I just shipped out some samples to Alpha06 and WTF so that everyone can get unbiased reviews about Board Brite. I really want everyone to know that I am not trying to scam people out of their money, and that this stuff really works like it says it does. More videos are in the works right now, but in the meantime are there any boarders outside of the US that would be willing to try this stuff out and give reviews? My goal is to make Board Brite popular worldwide, and I would like to get some feedback from boarders in other cultures outside the US. Send me a message or reply to this thread...thanks!

    BASIC ABRASION TEST:

Passed with flying colors. Watch the video in HD if you want by clicking the video and going to youtube

Below is the portion of the strip that was in the abrasion test, glows fine after heavy scratching. Pic below taken in 0 lux environment (no light). Iso was set at 1600 I believe, this is around how much it glows in pure darkness.

How it looks on the fsm

Glad to see you enjoyed the Board Brite Serge, keep up the good work with the testing videos, it's always good to get feedback and true facts about the products from an unbiased third party, thanks. Can't wait to see your feedback and the pics and videos once you put it on your board and start riding!

Thanks for confirming this wasn't a Sham Wow scam. Any retail plans for Atlanta market?

I'm gonna give out 4 strips at watchtower for a few more people to try out. Some advice from me is to setup a paypal payment system, get in touch with a few retailers like longboardskater/mile high skates, and lower the price because I think that $20 is a bit steep.

Also contact malakaikingston@silverfishlongboarding.com for a front page press release.

    Edit:

USPS priority mail flat rate small package is $5.00 to anywhere in the USA and it gets to locations WAAAAY faster than UPS (its 2-3 days max with usps priority coast to coast)

Ok let me know what they think....and there is a pay pal payment system set up, but the link is down right now, not sure why about to check on that...as for the price, I experimented with other cheaper options, but the quality was always compromised. Give yourself some more time with the strips and you'll slowly see the value building since you don't have to reorder like you would if cheaper materials were used. I just can't have a product out there that is poor quality, but popular enough and cheap enough to sell a high volume (i.e. Sham Wow/ any other cheap infomercial quality product). I realize I may sell less of these because some may see it as expensive, but I would rather know that I am selling something that is high quality and will last. The prototype strips I put on my board nearly 8 months ago are still holding up as strong as ever, and have saved the front of my board from a couple nasty spills. Due to the expense of infusing the vinyl with photoluminescent crystals instead of some cheap alternative (which is essential to creating a flexible, yet extremely durable surface) in the manufacturing process, coupled with a high quality 3M self-adhesive backing, it is hard to find ways to shave off the cost, trust me I tried. After the recession hit, we all got a wake up call to the fact that we need long-term, high quality products and services that will last...value is something that seems to have been lost in the few years leading up to the crash. Smart, long-term investments actually end up being cheaper in the long run when you truly look at it in the grand scheme of things.

Me and the EW crew skated a local hill, plenty of standups etc. I botched one around 15-20mph and kind of dragged the deck into the curb

The material ripped, but it stayed on the deck. The strips themselves are very easy to cut up so I think if any sharp object touches them at decent speed it just pierces through. I dont know about the whole second to diamond thing now...

On the plus side this stuff glows really sweet in the night, gonna get some pics of that in the netherlands next week.

I agree, the stuff is not impenetrable, but rather made to be strong against common abrasion (as performed by your test), not necessarily sharp edges. The Board Brite strips are made to take the bulk of the damage so that your board does not. This means that the strips will not stay flawless and perfect, as this would be nearly impossible to achieve, but they will stay on the board, offer an initial barrier of protection, and will never stop glowing. Had the board hit the curb without the strips, it would have taken all of the damage. I agree that if you are the type of boarder that bombs hills extremely fast, and your board gets away alot, then you will probably want something on the front that is made of metal, etc. You see, it is hard to find the happy medium between strips that are both flexible, yet durable enough to sustain sharp abrasion or punctures. If the vinyl in the Board Brite were infused with more photoluminescent crystals, the cost would be way too high, and the material would not be as flexible. Now if it was possible to put an entire photoluminescent crystal on the front of the board (which would probably cost more than the board) then you would see that the "2nd in harness only to a diamond" is not a lie. But as you can see, the glow is never affected if the strips take some abuse, and the strips will also not fall off.

For your average, run of the mill boarder however, Board Brite offers pretty good protection for as small and thin as it is, and also a glow that it awesome for both safety and customization.

It was a bit wet and I was pushing full speed to get to a party when a car came out, deck just slipped out and I did a barrel roll with a glass bottle in my backpack... the deck hit a curb, not much of anything to show on the decks side

This stuff is good for low speed bumps etc. Basically a low level form of protection. Another thing I'd like to note is that it glows brightest the first 30 mins then lowers considerably, but still keeps glowing a bit for a few hours.

When the material gets scratched up it picks up dust/dirt so it doesnt glow as well, but I'm not too worried about it.

I put some on my helmet, when the strip is charged it looks hella cool at night

    My viewpoint:

    Pros: Looks cool at night
    Offers Basic protection
    Good general abrasion resistance
    Does what it says

    Middleground: ~Price~
    After looking at this:
http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/long...rotection.aspx ...I'd say the price is decent.

    Cons:
Rips a bit easy/is too thin
    Gets dirty easy when scratched

any tests with tricks and stuff? most of the damage (and there's a lot) on my board came from messed up kickflips, awkward tiger claws, etc.

Serge, thanks for the testing the Board Brite, good to see a respected member of the 'fish give unbiased reviews so I can prove to people that this stuff really does what it says, and is useful if you want extra protection, illumination, or want to customize anything (the strips on your helmet look awesome!) As for the thinness, I am working on thicker prototypes for boarders that are bombing hills and bailing out at much higher speeds than your average boarder (maybe even offering one thicker front piece for the speed boarders). Now that I have gotten more feedback I'm going to post a front page press release, and get in contact with some distributors and retail stores online. Can't wait to see the footage you guys can make at night with this stuff...post your videos/pics! Thanks!
