    Default Tachyon XC Helmet Cameras

I just received the prototype of the soon to come Tachyon XC 3D camera.
I have done a few test and it is freaking awesome!

90 degrees wide angle, freaking nice quality and gestion of vibrations that is really impressive, and possiblity of doing 3D videos !!
Here is an exemple of how it looks like:

New York in 3D on Vimeo

They will come out in september for a price of 379$

And if you dont want to ALWAYS film in 3D, you get the cameras appart and you get 2 helmet cams instead

The camera is very resistant to shocks (I tested it already ), waterproof without a water case up to 28feet deep

    Here is my personnal setup

And if you dont want the 3D version with 2 cameras, the single Tachyon XC retails for 179$... cheaper than a Go-pro but by far better...

Ill do some testing very soon including the ride of "Koya-san" whenever my foot is fine...
    Gotta build a boomstick now

You wont find anything better for the price... they are among the cheapest and best quality non-HD camera around for now...

to create the 3d effect you need 2 points of view (like our eyes - 2 "cameras").

it makes 2 images, then combining them is done with a stereo viewer, color views, or polariazed viewers. the last 2 are for theater use.

if you can cross your eyes, try this (it works better by "uncrossing" your eyes (look past the image, focus on a distant point until the two combine) but thats too hard to explain and crossing will give you enough of the effect to see what i mean

thats my explanation, but im sure you could find better ones online

whenever is fine, the cameras not even out yet, just wondering how the vibration looks and what it does to the files, ive wanted to get a decent deck mounted camera for quite some time now, was excited about a go pro but they dont work that well for that application

The Tachyon XC is a beast! How'd you get it so early?? I cant wait until it comes out. I have the old one. Do you know if I can use the 2009 model for the 3D vids?

DH go pro coming soon, I wonder what that will do for this camera? But still... 3d >_< woah!
Also on your board mount, do you trust that velcro? seems like the camera hanging off the side would just vibrate till it came loose

The Velcro does not hold the camera that well on the side of the board no... I made the experience and I can tell you the camera is solid hahahha
You need to also tape it in order to make it hold well...
The Velcro is great though. Its a "3M Dual Lock Fastening System".
Now concerning the 2009 cameras, I just have no idea... contact Tachyon to see with them...
But there is no reason it shouldnt work... All the 3D thing is made by playing with colors and having a special mount. So if you get that special mount and if you are any good at editing it shouldnt be too hard to do. Keep in mind both videos have to start at the very same time. therefore a remote to start them both is appreciated and ease the editing after.
A soft that will simplify the 3D editing will come out someday soon. I dont have it yet.

And yeah... I skated that hill all alone
