gavmck and Ciotti, glad to hear you're liking them. It is nice when things work better, isn't it?

One tip, at the risk of stating the obvious: They work the best of all with either faced hangers or precision trucks (on which faced hangers are pretty much a given).

Oh yes, not much point in lining them up perfectly on the inside if you haven't on the outside. I've put mine on some kooky trucks. Now running the perfect undercarriage. ZERO slop.

What is the wheel you are talking about that is still too far apart of a bearing seat?

Most definitely, I thumped down the $50 or whatever it was for the counterbore to face my hangers a few months ago and have since done all 9 sets of the dam things

It's nice to now know that if a wheel isn't spinning properly it's because the core is screwed up and not the spacer 8)

Same thing happened to me, all my local hardware stores looked at me like I was an alien when I asked if they sold them and explained what they do so I just wound up ordering it online at one of the links in the various "how to face your trucks" threads.

Don't waste your time. Hardware stores just won't have 'em, as you have already discovered. Online is the way to go. MSC, McMaster-Carr or--surprise, surprise--eBay are your best bets. Example: INTERCHANGEABLE PILOT COUNTERBORE 61/64 - 5/16(CB-0129) - eBay (item 250312900614 end time Oct-16-09 22:07:46 PDT)

There are many different kinds that'll work. The main thing is that you get one with a removable pilot with a 5/16" pilot hole. Your axle (which is, naturally, 5/16" in diameter) fits into the hole.

If these guys don't, Aera trucks sells precision spacers, 8mm though, I'm sure they would start making 10mm if enough people asked

    Really.
Wheel cores are supposed to be .400. I'm told they typically vary between 0.390 to .410
The builtins I have measure .410. That is too big for all of my wheels, although too big seems better than nothing at all. I've built spacers from .400 to .410 and found that the closer to the correct size you can get the better. It just works better to keep the spacer less than .002 over what you need.

I'd say that .405 is a good size for the majority of wheels out there. Plus, with precision spacers you can use any bearings you want. Can't do that with builtins. I do like builtins for their convenience however.
