Re: In conjunction with Longboard Larry...
If you really want to "kill the dervish" add a bit more nose, and you're set.

yeah, this board can't be good for everything, David says its for sliding, carving, and garage sessions. Also note the alternate truck mounting holes (giving it a bigger nose) no?

This board isn't out to "kill the dervish" but its just a board inspired by it.
[Reference my first quote]
concerning this board being a "dervish killer":
if not for the whirling dervish vid (magical) and riding my own dervish on the hills of laguna beach... this concept would have never been dreamt up. nothing but love for loaded : )

Re: In conjunction with Longboard Larry...
Does the deck get flexier/saggier after a few months of use? Because it looks pretty flexy. Pretty cool deck though!

good question alpha06, i have not ridden one myself (there are only so many prototypes out there, maybe when the team riders get production decks, one might share...)
BUT
The poster picture says:
"Hemp tempers the energy of the bamboo, replaces the need for fiberglass for a greener product."
I'm not trying to say the board will not lose any life or spring, however the hemp acts like fiberglass would in any longboard.
For instance:
From Loaded's website:
(Replace the word Dancer with Street Sweeper if you so please)
With heavy use, the dancer will become slightly softer over time. However, it will not be a dramatic change. The board is pressed with a small amount of camber to help prevent dramatic sagging and for dampening.
Same for the Street Sweeper.
Does this answer your question? (geez, that came out sarcastic )
Edit:
You can modify the flex on this deck by doing a couple things:
Use the inner trucks mounting holes.
Getting a shorter version (there are three lengths, I am not about the final measurements but I will ask)
Getting a thicker version (there are three thicknesses.....I'll ask also.)

And --- even though we 'can' trampoline it, doesn't mean its built to keep doing this to the ground without the fibers breaking down much faster. Since LBL makes this in three thicknesses and length options, start out with the flex that wouldn't let you flex this much. And then when you get it, don't "test" the theory right out of the box!! You can tell with some strong jumps and pumps with the board in motion, rather than trampolining when it's stationary, whether the flex is not stiff enough. The fact is you can bottom out a board so much easier when it's at a complete standstill, but when you're moving, you rarely ever do this! Larry's really good about getting the flex dialed with your feedback.
I often coach people on this when they're figuring out which Walkabout flex as well. People jump straight up and down on their stationary boards way too much (unless you're in a high jump competition... why?) or get a board that's 1-2 flexes too low for their weight...then they wonder why a month later they're riding a limp noodle! Ride it hard -- just don't actually bottom out the board that you buy like this, or at least know that you're creating the rockered effect sooner. I know some people dig their boards more after they've been heavily broken in anyway.
Sweet looking deck...now which hole is the carrying one?

Re: In conjunction with Longboard Larry...
let me clear up the flex issue some ha ha... when we (holesom) said it has three different thicknesses of bamboo, that is per deck. we are keeping it simple and not offering flex options. truck mounting options can get ya three different flexes, or more nose for tricks, but we are coming out with just one deck (you'll like it tons whatever ya weigh).
composition is 11 layers, 5 bamboo in three different thicknesses, 3 of the 5 are vertical lams w the other 2 horizontal skins, and 6 layers of hemp (we aren't sharing how we do the hemp layers but it took us months upon months to get it right) all resin/epoxied up nice.
so, sorry for the confusion, i can totally see how that happened, but we really just want to make one deck for all of ya. want it stiffer, go on a diet :Q but again, you will like this deck a lot. can't wait to get it out there (nov '09)!
