From the hills of Laguna Beach with shapes by LBL and made from the freshest hemp, bamboo and holes on the planet. Holesom is dedicated to the proposition of smiles on rider’s faces, and on the faces of those we pass by as we share the stoke that is longboard skateboarding.
David J Williams started a new longboard building company named Holesom. (www.holesom.com) I am not a spokesperson for him and his company, nor am I being paid to write this post. Simply put, I really like what he does as a person, what he stands for, and what he's brought/is bringing/ and will bring to the longboard atmosphere. Almost everything I post is from his Facebook as well as some material from some team rider's Facebook's. Some of the pictures are of prototypes, so the cosmetics are not up to par; such as lack of sanding around the holes for instance.
During early early stages of making this board, Longboard Larry said, "I am super excited to see all the stoke about this board (concept).
I love using new materials and this is going to be a fun project. Can't wait to get the first board done."
Quick Props:
David J. Williams on making this cool new company. Best of luck for your business, don't be afraid to ask advice from other notable longboarders. (especially Chris Chaput and Longboard Larry. Maybe in the future you may contact other greats like Adam Colton for the dancer, John Galac, or Louis Pilloni for the downhill board)
PS, David Williams of Holesom is NOT the same David Williams that i hyperlinked to. XD
Matt Mann (as seen in "Killed by Dervish") for the legit photos of his, very much loved, prototype in front of a serene Californian sunset. Also thanks for getting stoked, and telling many people about how awesome your prototype board is.
Braden Lyle for taking and being in those great photographs with his board during a small photo shoot. Thanks for testing prototypes, as well.
Now that your done skipping the above text, here are some pictures =]
In this picture, David (self proclaimed 200 lbs) jumped on the board and took a picture until he got it just right. Just in case your wondering, it went right back to original camber after this abuse =]
Just a prototype at this point, but the setup is wicked.
40 inches/50 holes 9 layers hemp and bamboo (proto)
"This is what heaven looks like" - David Williams
Why are the holes like that? Its just a prototype and the public production boards will be sanded flawlessly. Look at the bottom for David William's quote on this subject matter.

Click the above picture to link it to photobucket, and you will see some Holey's on the boards.
Holes is the theme.
A newly released poster, paper that sums up the board and the company in a fast manner.
A nicely put together poster, no?
David Williams himself demolishing some garage sessions.
Here is Braden Lyle in a funny picture, notice the 'non tape' kind of grip.
I dont think this is the deck from above, but here is another of David William's boards. He describes it as the best garage board on the planet. 36" set up with fat frees, randals and venom double barrel reds."
Some quotes from the maker of Holesom, David Williams:
concerning this board being a "dervish killer":
if not for the whirling dervish vid (magical) and riding my own dervish on the hills of laguna beach... this concept would have never been dreamt up. nothing but love for loaded : )
concerning the flex of this board:
we've been asked a few times whether it''ll snap or not from a tigerclaw or some such trick. big guy (200) landing hard and... boing - back to it's original camber : )
concerning a suggestion to make the board drop through:
with all due respect to the dervish, this is way more fun. and i love my dervish... but yeah, way funner as is. i ought to drop one though... ha ha
concerning the flex amount on this board:
after what, 10 months we are still dialing in the flex but expect it to flex a couple inches from the top of the camber during a solid deep carve for most riders... and in between for dh or dancing or tricks unless you pull a big ol hippy jump and then ya might get catapulted into the neighbor's yard : )
concerning the look from looking at the top:
i was in a starbucks yesterday having coffee w the hHolesom skate mom, and what always happens happened... girl asks "whoa, what are the holes for" ha ha, i get asked that all the time. the thing is, people really like the clean look of this deck as a top mount. we've wondered once or twice about offering it dropped but the gut instinct was right all along. so if you don't want attractive women approaching you on a daily basis... get a dervish ha ha :Q
A quick side note: my first question to David was 'how durable is it gonna with all the holes in it??"
he said: Plenty, not even an issue but still a good question. nose and rail wear, as with any board, is all that will happen to it.
concerning recommended set ups on this board:
on holesom.com we will probably keep it simple like holey or randal trucks (amazing on both) and all the o'tang and abec11/retro wheels... on longboardlarry.com you'll find more options, or stokedskateboards.com...
concerning his use of "cross-duros":
crossing up the duros looks cool, but what about performance? i spoke w Chris Chaput for over an hour (dude is like Einstein when it comes to wheels) on this very set up and he said yes, do it, and then supported that w pie over mixed bigs equals happiness squared. add to that, i couldn't tell you which was which if i rode w my eyes closed... been riding this set up for a week w nothing but stoke. it's ok to be a rule breaker :O
concerning the cosmetic imperfections of a prototype:
this is a proto, the production decks are going to have each hole sweetly sanded and beveled to perfection by the sandpaper tongues of our kitten factory.
concerning the price of the board:
I do not have a quote for this section because I was walking to David in an instant messanger, but the board will be priced likewise of the Loaded Dervish. Sure its more than some other boards, but with this board, you really do get what you pay for! The time, effort, and love put in this board are worth it. Plus as Loadedboards.com said "Bamboo is not cheap." And making holes, and using hemp is not free either.
concerning whether or not to make blems:
same disclaimer as above, but he acknowledges how Longboard Larry feels about second rate boards (LBL does not want any board not worth riding with his name on it.) But David, at the same time, does not want price to be an obstacle for people who really want to ride this.
concerning how he will use griptape:
when your sweet factory grip wears off yours... you can purchase pre-cut grip tape from us at the same price as regular grip tape, and simply slide it onto place with a couple pencils. pretty ingenious we think ha ha. all the protos are hand drilled till we are ready to go, then it'll all be automated. the tooling is already ready!

btw, i really didnt know which thread to put this in.
its not my company so i didnt want to put it in vendors
Well that is all I want to share with all you fine fellow fishers today. Watch out for this new company! But do not get it twisted, David Williams rides and highly likes his Loaded Dervish, but this board is way funner in his opinion. Its also not a Dervish Killer.
Thats all for now folks.
Skate Safe.
Live Stoked.
Enjoy Holesom.
