    Default Shoes...

In order to finance some new projects, I'm thinking about offering shoes on the Mile High Skates site/store. I have no intention of turning into CCS, but rather, may offer a select few models in popular sizes, etc. Exact details are still (very much) TBD, but I wanted to get folks' opinions before committing.

Here are the models we're looking at:

I ordered a pair of the first model, and they're good shoes. Excellent insoles, grippy soles, and they appear to be well made. The tongues are on the puffy side, but they don't suffer from the Bloated Tongue Syndrome that many other shoes do. Once again, this is merely something that's under consideration, we won't be turning into a clothing-first, boards-second store/site.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

THe white ones are actually a shoe I would buy. Can I order a size 13 in white? How much?

how bout a pair of black suede airwalk vics from back in the late 80s?

size 12 if you can :)

seriously though, i wouldn't buy shoes online, unless they were my second pair of that same model. shoe fit and comfort are so tricky...

Let me think on that. I don't like the new styles of shoes. (These aren't bad though.) I want something more conservative then what's on the market. I'm not a trend setter. I need something functional and clean.

There's some wiggle room on the pricing, with that being the upper end of the spectrum.

And remember, we're still trying to figure out if this will fly.

I would definately get the first one that's brown/red? They're ordering us to get non-slip shoes at work and are willing to pay up to $40. I's say 15 bucks for a shoe is a pretty good deal.

Mark, you should offer up 3-shoe sets, so we have an extra one for our foot braking foot!

Seriously though...do they have any high tops in their line up? And how flexible are the soles? I'm still skating vans like i have for 25 years or whatever because all the new shoes seem really stiff. (although the old osiris jay adams shoes dangersticks wears seem mega flexible)

They had high-tops, but they're not shown on the 2005 availability list.

The DuFFS are stiffer than Van's shoes with the waffle soles. Board feel isn't bad, but it's different than what you're used to. I tried on a pair of those Jay Adams Osiris once, and they were like slippers.

Have you looked into the Dekline shoes? They have great board feel, no over-padded tongues, and more stiffness/cushion than old Vans or Chuck Taylors. You really have to try a pair on to see why they are better than the new puffy shoes and the old boat sole shoes.

The reason we're looking at DuFFS is simple--they're the only shoes available through our distribution channels. No shoe company will give us an account because (A) we're strictly e-commerce, and/or (B) we couldn't meet the min order requirements. Would love to offer other brands (in addition to DuFFS), but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.

Speaking of min order requirements, one helmet vendor quoted us a 1,200 min per year...

Hmmmm. I and a fair few of my friends have owned duffs and haven't been impressed. The soles wear through very quickly and I had the hole back of one show split open - sole and leather. But then my Vans i'm wearing now have also worn out at the back of the sole. Maybe its just the way I walk or skate

duffs rule! or at least thats what ive heard, a bunch of friends have had them, they all say the feelin is a bit different but its great once u get used to it, and the grip is great, and they dont wear fast at all, but then again thats accordin to a bunch of kickflippers who dont really footbrake, but the wear on the soul and front of the shoe from ollies and such can really wear after awhile

Unofrtunately I will never wear Duffs again. I wore through the heel of a pair in about 3 weeks, this was before I longboarded - no footbraking, so just some mild street stuff. Wasn't impressed...

I'm a bit behind on this, but I've found a brand I really like. It's the Lakai shoes, very performance oriented brand. Right now I'm skating the MJ2's. They are very comfy but they have a somewhat puffy tongue. The next shoe I buy will be the MJ3, it's very scaled down with no puffy tongue action.
