Other Planet Beta Trucks.
We've got Other Planet Betas available now.

We're looking for buyers who will work with us, and give us valuable feedback on the truck, but especially on the cam's which are still in development. As well as compiling a list of compatible deck's, etc.
This is the place where we want to gather peoples Impressions, Ideas, observations, and all sorts of fun stuff. Basically I want all you Kraffftworks enthusiasts here helping out as well.
The best way to help is by Buying in!
These Betas are somewhat CNC'd Partly hand built. As such they are still pretty expensive to make. And also, because they are beta's they are not very streamlined yet.
The biggest problem we have right now is actually mounting them to the decks.
The beta status also means that there are still things constantly being tweaked with, so trucks and cams going out next month may be a little different than trucks and cams going out next week.
For anyone interested, It is $50 per truck, $100 a set. This IS negotiable if you can come up, and approach me with a pitch to negotiate with. But realize any is money coming out of my own pockets, so its not going to be an easy sell.
In addition, its also $10 for an additional set of Cams.
We have 3 different types of cams to choose from right now.
-FreeCarve, For the most possible turning ability
-FreeRide, carving at speed, high speed slides.
-Downhill, the most restricted movement, stability for higher speeds. but its also good for simply commuting.

If you provide feedback and impressions, have good ideas or bring up good points, thrash your equipment, we will love you A LOT, especially if you provide photo's and a detailed story. If you can make yourself valuable to us, we will be very interested to see what we can do to make sure you have the latest and greatest.
And remember, You don't need to have a set of trucks to be valuable in the discussion that takes place here.
Those Interested PM me, Subject line "Beta Trucks" and include your shipping address, How many trucks you're wanting to buy, which Cam you want to include, and any additional cam's you want.
THANKYOU!

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
interesting design? can you shed some more info on the trucks itself? like weight, axle width & size, mounting options. more info on how they work. what to expect with this design. etc.

There was never Dual pivots, just two bolts that held it together.
The Pivot has always been, and still is, the cam.
We now just hold it all together with one bolt instead of two.
You can see the cam kinda behind the springs in that picture.
What it does is the two outermost edges act like two seperate pivot points, but the curvature between them allows the actual pivot point to transition between them in a controlled way, rather than simply going from one, then the other.

ok ive still got questions tho
do they still sit flat when only gravity is used (like before they seemed to sit on the two pivots inside the cam, and twisted round each pivot depending on which way you lean)
and do they pivot slightly offset like before or are they centered now?
most of this id be able to work out with a video of the trucks turning.
very interested in these trucks. wish i had the money to afford them

They still return to center with gravity, I'm not sure what you mean by offset exactly.
A good place to look for riding footage is this thread:
http://www.silverfishlongboarding.co...g-sesions.html
{edit} I guess you actually can't see the trucks very well in those vids. So disregard that I guess.
And they should be pretty affordable once development is complete, and we go into production with cast trucks.

with the cam etc

The work exactly the same, the only difference is how we fit it all in there.

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
Iam interested in what decks you have tried these on so we could have a general idea of what they would work with. They look very interesting. The one thing the throws me is most of us are used to so e resistance from the deck as we turn. This looks very different as if there is almost no resistance at all. How difficult is it to hold a line if you are in less than a full turn?

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
Cool!
What's the equivalent baseplate angle?
I'll be cpontacting you for a set for the UK

Holding a line isn't bad, but I think does take some getting used to.
If that's something you're concerned about, in another month the betas we'll have should be able to provide more than the ones we currently have.
I think the decks we've tried so far is just the Rayne isis, and nemisis. almost all our other decks are ones I've made.
The main things are going to be drop, more than an inch is pushing it.
And the neck. The neck can't be too wide, not much more than 4".

I'm not sure about that. The actual pivot angle is 17 degrees, and its got all the lean you'd expect from that angle.
But at the same time, we still have a tighter turning radius.

thanks for the info. i noticed in one of the pics or videos that there were springs on the trucks. have those been removed or are they still involved??

Springs are still involved.
What we don't have is the O-rings that we used to use, The O-rings are really what offer versatility, and we're making changes to allow for them to be used again ( in addition to the springs ) when the next set of baseplates are made.

anyone know which it is?
what combo is best?
possibly carbon fiber evo with 97 mm flywheels..bones swiss ceramic bearings?
anyone know?

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
That's a really innovative design. I'm impressed.
Now I just need a deck that will accommodate these. Have you tried any of them on a topmount speedboard like the Megalodon? Are there more restrictive cams that would allow that?

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
Widen the axles. In my opinion needing a 4 inch wide neck is no bueno. I think marketing a product that bottlenecks your demographic is not promising. What about center set wheels? Most people who say that 180 is the perfect width for them have only ever ridden 180mm trucks. Im a bit over 6' and when I first started riding with my trucks spaced out to 200mm, I instantly fell in love. Yes, there are going to be differences. It changes the geometry. We know this, but wider is better in my opinion. How many precision truck companies sell wider trucks than 180? Most. The reason is because that is the main benefit of a precision truck geometry. Id like to just try a 220mm truck for shits and giggles.
Anyhow, my first bit of criticism is that you need to open your possibilities when it comes to board compatibility, and accept that 180 is only 180 because someone (probably randal) made them like that a long time ago, and the masses accepted.
Second, Good job. I love how far out of the box you are. It means other crazy people don't have to go there.

Re: Other Planet Beta Trucks.
i am wondering if they would fit a clutch deznuts?? i will have to do some measuring. that could be sweet setup for both downhill and freeriding.
