Re: Where's Julian?
Considering how every board he has built is a carbon "crappier" copy original boards I am not that upset seeing his buisness flounder. 95 % of his boards were knockoffs. All of the ones in my town are basically falling apart as well.
Sorry you had to end this way CLB but good riddins i guess. And those of you who have his boards and won't ride them. That is a stupid idea. I say it gives you more reason to thrash the crap outta them!

Re: Where's Julian?
Its hard to say if he is a tweaker.
I am not sure if those in some sort of incarceration have access to email and or paypal/internet.
If email's are going through his wife, there is some sort of seperation whether self imposed or spouse/court directed.
Regardless, a resolve of some sorts for his customers looks to be close.
OK now, lets move on to another conspiracy or train wreck.

Mike, that's a bit harsh. There is no argueing the fact that his foamcore version looked remarkably similar to the Wefunk but I don't see any of his other boards that you could argue as being knock offs. There are a few proven shapes that work very well for DH and just about every self-respecting DH company has some variation of them. I loved the cutthroat and was so upset at the disappearance of CLB because I knew that there isn't another board on the market that is similar in shape and feel to the cutthroat.
He had a few runs of the scorpion that had delamination problems. Seriously though, what company hasn't. I've been riding my deck since May and despite the punishment I've put it through, the only things that have happened to it are all a result of my riding, not his construction.

Re: Where's Julian?
I sent a rather caustic e-mail to Julian's wife (not directed at her, but at Julian). From the way it sounds, Julian really doesn't seem to talk to his wife at all, just like he doesn't talk to his customers. It's cool he had his run of "fame" and "notoriety" for "copying" WeFunk, but it's outrageous that he has made his customers wait THIS LONG just to find out what MIGHT be happening.
Another thing I'm worried about is that since my order was more than 45 days ago, PayPal can't do anything about it. I called VISA, and they can't do anything about it for similar reasons (has to be within 30 days).
If Julian is in jail, maybe it's cause of the numerous counts of fraud he's committed to ALL his customers who haven't received their orders, and maybe all these e-mails his wife is bringing him are reading material. And maybe by returning everyone's money, his punishments are less. I don't know, everyone else's guess is as good as mine. For all we know, he could be a super secret spy and is out murking al qaeda. i kid.

Re: Where's Julian?
It's obvious that Julian has multiple-personality disorder, and his wife, "Juliette," is just another one of his many delusional personalities. Makes sense they can't talk to each other, but only communicate through physical correspondence.

the scorpion=hellcat
his other lowered boards = evo, caften, and demonseed. I haven't seen an original board other than his carver.

Re: Where's Julian?
ok.. a lot of his boards were much like others, but there isnt really anything wrong with that. with elenor - it fixed the wedging of the evo, and others had slight veriations that i think the original needed.
also, copy a wefunk, but there has long been (and is even more now) a market for a us made wefunk copy to get them accessable and affordable over here. thats just simple supply and demand.
id say its aporpriat to get upset about missing money, bad communication, or those boards that are going bad, but come on, anyone can sell whatever they want as long as its legal, all us builder copy other board to an extent. actualy any board i've ever made has copied parts of other board in an attempt to improve what i felt the other board was lacking.
anyway, just buggin me cause no one would say a thing about his designs 3 months ago, and now everything is getting bashed. remember that most his designs and workmanship was very good, and just some lately have gone real bad, as well as all the other problems.
also, anyone not wanting to ever ride their clb again, pm me and i'll get you a great address to send it, i'll even pay shipping. maybe i can improve on some of the designs

blah blah blah, and the hellcat looks like a smoothcut, its hard to differentiate a board without radikalu changing the components aswells o it needs a new layout. what else are you supposed to do with a drop through board, the only similarity between the boards are that it has dropthroughs and cutouts....
every board wasn't a copy, it was his idea of making something different and better in his and others eyes. not even his top mount foam was a exact replica, as the middle isn't even recessed, i think he made it cause its hard to get a wefunk and noones else really makes a similar shaped board anymore....
He tried to make things better himself instead of him and his customers just dealing with something else. im glad theres "hellcat clones (smoothcut FTW)", i dont like the hellcat as much as other drop through boards, im glad theres alternatives.
I dont think its right what hes done, but i dont think hes wrong for so called "copying boards".

Re: Where's Julian?
My position on CLB:
He makes awesome boards, it's his customer service that sucks. His boards are not rip offs of other boards, they are tweaked versions and in most cases I believe that his tweaks are for the better. Being a board builder myself, I must say that I really really respect his work, skill and innovations. He also was extremely helpful to me, giving me several tips on where he gets his stuff, what kind of wood, glass and CF he uses; things that are usually company held secrets that most people wouldn't want to share.
I still hold an enormous amount of respect for Julian as a craftsman, just not as a businessman.

Re: Where's Julian?
Yes he did a horrible thing but, I think it's not fair that you guys are going into his personal life..
It was a business situation, not one with his relationship with his wife.

Its called giving the customer what they want. Its about creating whatever is popular at the time and will sell. Of all places, Silverfish should know allll about that. Just because Julian totally ####ed up doesnt mean people all need to jump on the bandwagon and say his products were complete ####, because I honestly dont think thats true. I know the recent runs of scorpions were screwed up, but other than that theres no point in talking #### about his work. I understand being upset about a refund or waiting a long time, but thats it. Also, I think its a little unfair to judge his personal life and his relationship with his wife. I posted her message on here so that people would STOP speculating about where he was and so that they could get their money back, not to prolong this entire thing.
